Default Wheel refurb

Hi Guys.
I have been thinking about getting the wheels on my xkr cleaned up.
There are some minor kerb skuff marks (not done by me lol) and the lacquer in some areas is starting to peel.
I was thinking on changing the colour from the stock silver to a more tungsten silver.
Anyone done this or has a suggestion for colour. Any pics of wheels done would be great to get an idea. My body colour is Lunar mettallic.
Cheers.

It never fails to amaze me how differentially skilled people are when it comes to this type of work. I am an absolute mess. I have an overly heavy hand, NO patience when it comes to applying things like paint in gradual layers, and absolutely no 'eye' when it comes to smoothing surfaces and matching layers/shapes/colors...

I get way more satisfaction paying someone else and NEVER thinking of the misery that the teeth gnashing repairs would have entailed Better to drop her off and pick it up with miraculously fixed rims.

I know full well that it isn't high art, and that anyone with patience and a steady hand can save huge money doing it themselves. I wish I were in that group!

No, my efforts turn out awfuly. Bondo and I have had a bad long term relationship in my late-teens... Friends of mine were manipulating Bondo into a MIRROR finish (when painted), indistinguishable from the underlying metal. Me? Always runs, ruts, lumps... Awful!

I wish I shared your gene! Thank providence I have enough in the bank to not be FORCED to do small body work myself as in years past.

But a SERIOUS tip of the hat to those of you who can dot these types of repairs on your own, in the driveway, and with modest tools: Salute a voi!
