I went with Black Chrome and am very happy with how it came out - I have a thread on here someplace with a picture... when I did my research, Cal Chrome was one of the more expensive places that did the exchange. I went with another company who's name escapes me right now, but is also in the above mentioned thread that you should search for, lol.

iKonic - that convertible is the same color as my XKR.

I am leaning more and more to black chrome. In fact, I think if I could get my Jupiter wheels in black chrome that would be perfect.

The black chrome is a brighter look, but does not overwhelm the car or overstate the wheels. They don't draw the eye as much as bright chrome, and the color of black chrome will complement the Slate Gray color very well.

So the three big changes I want to make to my 07 is the 2010 tail lights, the black chrome Jupiters, and the antenna hole filled in and repainted.

Default Wheels

Go with the Jupiter or the Callisto.

One thing to keep in mind is curb rash. It costs much less to refinish a painted wheel than a chrome wheel, which often can't be refinished and must be replaced. If you can't decide between painted or chromed, consider the 20" Selena wheel on my XKR Portfolio - it is both painted and chromed. Triple-spoke, painted, except for the chrome center spoke. You can have it both ways!

Default Chrome Jupiters

Here's what the chrome Jupiters look like on my 07 XK. I went for just the painted Senta's on my 08 XKR. Liked them both.

I really like chrome, my 07 Z06 came with what is called Comp Gray wheels

But I decided I liked the newer style Z06 wheels in chrome

I don't think they are out of place or "distracting". On the other hand most cars I meet usually only get to enjoy my tail lights anyway.

My opinion is that chrome wheels on the XK is a little too much. I saw one at the dealer and the wheels really overshone the car.

Chrome is okay and I think depends on the color of the car.
I'd get the jaguar brake dust colored gray finish lol

To me, chrome wheels of any kind scream "after market!" I really like the toned down look of my 20" Sentas (aluminum).......I'm even considering black or gray like the 'vette ones from TomServo.

But, again, personalize your ride the way YOU want it!

Your car, have fun with it.

That said, you will never see chrome on high performance rims. Why? It adds nothing but unwanted weight (research un-sprung weight vs handling). Might look good, but your going backwards in other areas....

Just so ya know...

What have we learned here? It would be a boring world if we all liked the same stuff, that's what.

Chrome wheels were a big fad 5 years ago. "Were" being the operative word, here!

I think they will always be in style and appropriate for some cars, I think most Jaguars look better with chrome wheels. My R-R has them and I would not buy one without them really.

The key is to keep them clean of break dust (really as you should on any wheel lol) as it can cause the plating to bubble and peel.

I also stay away from the Black Chrome because they look like brake dust city.

Do you play pro football?

I say that because I was talking to one of the Patriots a few years ago who had a black XK convertible with chrome wheels. He had an Aston and XK8 too, but really loved the XK. He got me really thinking of buying an XK after his thumbs up.

As long as they are stock wheels and you have a couple of chrome accents to go along.
