You can't trust ANY internet seller, especially when their prices seem too good to be true! BUYER BEWARE! Think about it: How can brand new OEM wheels cost 25% of list? Only if they're NOT available and are NOT brand new and are, in fact, refurbished. Nowhere on their slick website does it say that their wheels are in stock and ready to be shipped, or that they are brand new factory original (OEM) and not refurbished. They're cheap for a reason. Read the Better Business Bureau complaints about allfactorywheels.com:
If you want brand new, OEM Jaguar wheels you'll probably have to buy them from a Jaguar dealer. Otherwise, get it in writing that the wheels are brand new OEM and not refurbished or replicas. Sure, insurance companies get better prices because of volume but they also buy refurbished and aftermarket parts for repairs if that's specified in your contract.
Are you sure it can’t be fixed? I had 2 bends in a front alloy aftermarket wheel on my old Lexus from hitting 2 potholes in a single drive (tire didn’t blow but had a bad bulge and limping home it was like driving on a flat tire, kthump, kthump,...).
Took it to two places, said it couldn’t be fixed. Took it to a third, and they fixed it in a day, and the price was very reasonable. Drove on that wheel for another 10+ years with no issues. No longer have the car, but I still have the wheels.
You’re in the Chicagoland area, I’ll look them up when I get home in a week (currently on vacation), but they were in the northwest suburbs. I’m guessing it was Alloy Wheel Specialists (AWS), but I’ll check when I get back.
I vehemently disagree with this statement. MOST of the internet sellers are quite reputable and stand behind their products as well as any brick and mortar seller.
Ebay in particular is VERY good and backs up their sellers with a very clear warranty "Get the item you ordered or get your money back.
Covers your purchase price and original shipping."
I have found that on the VERY few occasions that the ebay seller did not make right on my purchases ebay made it right. Ebay has earned a much higher level of trust from me than any Jaguar dealer I have used!
Example: I purchased a $500 kitchen appliance for my wife from what was listed as a US seller with a "return for any reason within 30 days policy. Buyer pays return shipping." My wife did not like it - too big on the counter. I requested a return. Seller wanted me to return ship it to Israel for $250. I complained to ebay. They told the seller to give me a US return address within 3 days. After 3 days I did not receive a return address so ebay refunded my money and told me to keep the item.
Did you go to the AllFactoryWheels website? If so, what did you think?
You took my comment out of context because I was referring to buying from the website of a direct internet seller whose prices are extremely low and seemed too good to be true. That was a red flag for me, so I investigated further and found the Better Business Bureau complaints and negative reviews for that company. It's a different story where an internet sales platform such as Amazon or Ebay provides protection for the buyer. In my opinion, it's always prudent to never trust a stranger, particularly on the internet where scammers hide in plain sight. Use whatever buyer protections you may have, such as PayPal or a credit card, where you can get a refund if the deal turns sour.
