If the mechanic isn't finding anything wrong with the car while stationairy (and I'm assuming through a range of revs), you might look for something aerodynamics related. If not mechanical, it typically takes wind/air movement to whistle. Such ideas might be loose shielding or air deflectors, trim coming off or loose, a change to window/door gaskets... Hope you find something - I really dislike spurious noises and rattles.

Hi All
My XKR is making a whistling noise at 2-2500 rpm
My mechanics have spent 4 hours trying to find out what it is. Any ideas?
The noise is presumably occurring whilst the car is standing still? If your mechanics still can't pin point the area of the noise after 4 hours, then I suggest that the main problem lies with the mechanics rather than the car. 🙁

@GGG and @Cee Jay went out of their way to help the newbie OP. And to what end?
I noted that the OP's Public Profile remains unchanged, and he hasn't created a signature. Until he does so, I will not post my comments regarding his inquiry. You may want to do the same.
I stand corrected. Your gear driven turbo, (can be belt driven), called a supercharger, could be the source of the noise. If you had an exhaust driven turbo, I would say the same thing. Turbo is really a misnomer. We can call it a, turbine compressor, to be more exacting I believe.
So your turbine compressor could be whistling. I wouldn't loose much sleep over it. If the speed of the tips of the turbine blades reach the speed of sound, you will hear it. Just to muddy the waters even more!

But, superchargers don't HAVE a turbine. They are positive displacement inter-meshed gears/lobes. A totally different beast using different physics.
You were wrong, no big deal. Even I have made (three) mistakes.
"In definition a turbocharger is powered by a turbine that is driven by the engine's exhaust gas
And in definition a supercharger is mechanically connected to the engine's crankshaft by means of a belt or gear.
Now what your talking about is a centrifugal supercharger. Some people see it simply as a belt driven turbo because basically it is. Like a Turbo it's also powered by a turbine but instead of being powered by the engines exhaust it's connected to the engine's crankshaft by means of a belt or gear."
My old shop used to install Paxton Super Chargers in MBs...back in the day they were trash, the ball bearings would give out, they didn't flow enough air, and Vince would swear that when I installed it I warped the housing. (no warranty just send more money)
Good memories!
