Default Whistling noise driver side small window v annoying

First photo is passenger side rubber is over the glass covering it on the second photo rubber is under the glass with the window exposed is this correct ??

First picture is how mine are. I have the whistling too, but haven't had time to dig into it yet.

I'd first assume/ask: you are in England, and have a right-side drive car, yes? So your over-the-shoulder whistle is on your RIGHT?
Reason I ask: I've had the annoying over the driver's shoulder whistle (and I've had two XK's and they BOTH had the issue), over and behind my LEFT shoulder. On mine, however, the "pitch" of the whistling noise goes up or down if I turn the climate-control fan up or down. I always assumed it's coming from some vent or ductwork in a hard-to-access area. I've just gotten used to it.

Wondered why both sides are finished differently surely they should be the same ?
