Default Why not make both reverse lights work

Any one get questioned during inspection time why only 1 reverse light works? I have a letter from dealer explaining why one 1 light works. Being the case, why not have both lights work?

Is it maybe the rear fog position in the UK?

Should be doable as a DIY.

There IS only one reverse light on that model! It isn't that only one is working. The unit on the other side is a red "fog guard". And whereas some cars have two of those, the XK has only one. The next time you go for inspection you can demonstrate this quite easily: first the reverse position which will illuminate the reverse light; then the rear fog switch, which will illuminate the single red fog lamp. If the technician (I use the term loosely" still fails to appreciate the situation, get out your owner's manual!

AS quoted the one light is a fog light.if you want to make both lights reverse then you will have to acquire a light off a right hand drive car and swap the light on your car, then wire the new one to the existing light after disconnecting the original wire from the foglight. This can also be done in reverse for right hand cars by obtaining a light from a left hand drive car. I have done this already on my 08 XKR. I got fed up with people telling me I had a light out. BTW - this changed with the 2010+ models, which have two reverse and two fog lamps.
