Why is the performance of the XKR so poor?

A main Dealer won't do a tranny service as they say 'sealed for life' IT IS NOT, they will wait for it to fail and charge you £5k for a new transmission
From a ZF protek accredited maintainer the cost of the fluid and mechatronic sleeve replacement is around £450
I appreciate that many in the UK (either due to age, laziness or more money than sense) trust their main dealer so much they even get their tyres, wipers and bulbs changed by them
On the issue of hard rest either google or forum search as it's late and I'll not do that for you....CJ might though, but is probably miffed by your tyre choice (sorry an 'in' joke)

Sorry if this sounds hostile but during my ownership I have had to suffer this from several people in owners clubs. There seems to be an elite type of Jaguar owner that for some reason resent the fact that some peasant like me owns the same cars as them. Very sad.
Thank you for your help, however, I will do some research.

With all due respect having "more money than sense" is certainly not my issue. It's also disappointing to know there are members of this community that won't help based on what tyres I can afford. I am working class, I had to save a lot of money for a long time to buy my XKR. Some people have to work for a living and don't get paid ridiculous wages for managements jobs.

Please accept my apologies for the wretched comments you received, 99% of us in here are wonderful and quite willing to help. Please don't focus on the lower 1%.

The 155mph top speed is speed limiter limited but can be reprogrammed to get to 186mph. I have had mine at about 140mph on the track in a controlled environment (of course). The torque and acceleration is greater even than my Pantera was, so I've never considered it slow and underperforming. I have, however, driven one that felt sluggish, and it needed a new engine due to owner's neglect as there was no oil in the motor and destroyed rod bearings. I have yet to have seen anyone on this forum claim the 5.0L engine was underpowered.

@ZeroX , I think @JagRag is on to something. Would you take the plastic engine cover off and provide a snap for us?
Incidentally, all those here know full well @Cee Jay as well as some others are just plain wrong in their tire choices ;-), this bears no refection on you.
At the top of this very forum are documents available for you to learn about your car. May I propose you have a look at the document Technical Introduction and Technical Overview as well as the Owners Handbook. You may find the information useful and interesting. I dont suggest you bother reading the Workshop Manual at this time.
And by the way, lighten up. If you are going to start a purely suggestive and opinionated thread like this one, youve got to expect equal opinions in return.
And yes, I work bloody hard to maintain my quality of life too.
Cheers!

I think you need to state the following:
1) Mileage and FSH?
2) If you've had a tranny fluid change (before 60k miles and then every 40k)
3) When you'll use the power you expect?
4) SC fluid change and coupler/bearings checked?*
5) Hard reset ever done in your ownership?
On my 2014 (also with MPS4S's with over 5mm left) the back end will still step out if I stamp on the loud pedal in a straight line.
Yes I've had faster cars but my XKR is plenty fast enough for me
*My isolation coupler had disintegrated and the SC fluid was 50% of what it should have been be last year at 53k miles, luckily my warranty company paid for the work (after a fight)

I'm also not familiar with the hard reset could you elaborate?

I spect very few members have DEEP pockets. Most like you are just getting by nicely. That's why we are here. Otherwise we would just buy new every couple of years and never worry about maintenance. You know like the people we buy our cars from. I've been on sailing forums, many car forums, motorhome forums and hands down without a doubt this forum is the best I've been a part of.

I have a 2010 XKR and it is fast. Faster than any other car I've had or even driven. At around 4.2 to 60, I feel that meets expectations given its weight and power. The 60-120mph acceleration is amazing, I feel like. I have had it at 155 and felt the fuel cut off. It is stable and feels just fine at that speed. I do suggest not driving it that fast without the proper tires with only light wear that are no more than a couple years old, though.
You may have an issue with your car. I suggest getting it looked at. You may have a failing Supercharger or perhaps the SC pulley is having issues. Could be something else too.

I have owned a 2011 XKR for about 3 years now and I have been surprised by how slow it is in terms of acceleration/top speed compared to other vehicles.
On paper when you look at the power to weight ratio of the XKR it seems average in terms of performance, but the figures for acceleration/top speed seem to fall way below cars that have a higher kerb weight or less power.
In terms of real world driving the XKR seems very prone to what I describe as "kangaroo" acceleration, where even on a dry road with moderate (<50%) throttle the power seems to cut constantly. I don't know if the traction control system (does the XKR even have that?) is just very intrusive or if part of the problem with poor performance is that it just doesn't transfer the power to the road very well.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
