It is peculiar how that happens for some, and not others.
My 3 garage door motors are 2012 vintage. I have programmed all three buttons to correspond to the three doors, in all my vehicles. And it works like a charm.
What I did not mention above is that I purposely unplug the motors while I have the car learn the 3-button remote codes.
Then I plug in the motors and pair the car to the motors.

I spoke with a tech at Homelink today and she gave me another protocol. after erasing the memory by pressing the two outer buttons, I was to push and release the Homelink button once in my car, and then hold the remote near the roof consol and press the remote button until the Homelink button lit up steady. No joy.
