winter

We get lots of rain in Seattle and I have no problem driving the XKR in the rain, but when we start getting ice and snow - it will be the Jeep all the way!! But in NYC - won't you be doing mass transit - train, cab, etc?

I store mine for the winter..... granted with the proper winter tires it would be fine..... my concern has always been someone sliding into me!!!!
Also, it would kill me to see it in the salt and slush........
so, I drive my AWD BMW 5 series and sneak a peak of the XKR in the garage when I need a fix.

I was thinking of buying a new R8 V10 Spyder this coming spring but found out that the R8 will be redesigned in 2014 which means 4Q release in 2013. Don't want to buy one and then the following year it will be redesigned and so I'll wait. That means I will keep the XKR for 2 more years. Also in 2014 the 991Turbo should be out to compare.
Therefore, I went and put an deposit for a 2012 Range Rover Evoque Prestige that should have been here yesterday but still waiting for the dealer to get it in. I really wanted the Dynamic model but only 4,500 will be coming to the U.S. and orders now won't be here until April, I decided to just get the next one coming into my dealer which will be the Prestige model (luxury). Because the Evoque is somewhat small, I also picked up a 2012 MB GL450 last week in case I need to haul larger things. These two will be my winter beaters...

Thanks guys....can't wait for the Evoque. I think it will be more fun to drive then the GL. I do have the E350 4matic. It's a 2010 (W212). I was looking at the S class but the new SClass (W222) will be here next year this time and so I'll wait to see what it looks like.

I have full set of Bridgestone Blizzak tires on OEM wheels plus a couple of bags of sand for the trunk/rear axle to assist with traction. We don't get much snow here (2009 notwithstanding), but when we do, the streets are usually miserable to drive on. The Blizzaks keep me straight and safe.

So my Evoque finally arrived yesterday. Idiot dealer put on their badge in the back of the car and it's on there pretty tight. Have to wait for a warmer day with a hair dryer and fishing line to remove it. It also has the "Jaguar Drive" knob that rises up. Funny, I don't have it on my '08 XKR but have it on my Evoque. Here are some pics:

Drive my XK year round, the only issue is washer fluid freezes at -20C. Winter tires is a must with snowfalls and below freezing temperatures. I enjoy heated seats and windshield. Cabin warms up in no time. Winter drive mode would be useful if you don't like rear axle swings at the starts.
