If you don't mind, would you also post the cost of the parts and labour when complete for this fit-up?
Were there any other parts/items (i.e. calipers, larger wheels, etc) that needed to be changed or altered for this upgrade?
And finally, once these wear out, will it be possible to buy just the outer disc and bolt them to the existing inner hubs (resulting in a possible cost savings on the next set?)

£2200 inc discs and fitting, appreciate that mine are the first time (to my knowledge) they are going on an XK
Am supplying my own EBC red stuff (£150 for both sets)
My standard calipers being used, you can upgrade to their Wortec 8, 10 or even 12 (!!!) pot calipers which are HUGE
But I don't do any track these days so wasn't tempted...plus they are VERY expensive
If you get a group buy on the discs/rotors going on the forum (as they did on the F-type forum) you can probably get them below $2000+shipping if you get more than 15 sets
As to wear I have never actually worn out a set of discs in 35yrs, yes I've changed them when I've purchase a used car, however my EBC discs lasted over 120k miles and that was only 2 sets of pads (I don't brake much!). Apparently the Wortec discs are supposed to have double the usable life of a normal set so am hoping they'll outlast me!
Old rotors weighed in at 56kg/126lbs, Wortec at 36kg/80lbs so the weight saving = 20kg/45lbs, these are the less aggressive so weight saving not as much as I'd thought but everything I've read about unsprung indicates that there will be a four/five fold comparison to body/sprung weight. With the aggressive you have to upgrade the calipers to a minimum of 4 pots which is another £2k...but you save another 8=10kg
Will post up pics with the wheels fitted tomorrow as was too dark when they lowered the car off their ramp...and my car/tyres were dirty
I did get some rather interesting/flattering comments from other Jag owners
Right, probs my last post on this topic unless any questions arise.
Had to drive to a photoshoot of car and below pics were taken after 50 mile drive back, so have picked up a little muck.
Initial driving impressions are
1) it feels far more confident in turns and over speedbumps
2) braking is precision stuff, initial bite through to stationary is faultless
3) They look AMAZING!!
Now am unsure how the 'Super Performance' Braking System' and 'High Performance Braking system' as shown on my cars spec sheet differs from a normal XKR...since it uses the same discs and pads as a normal R? But, it was no slouch in the stopping dept, and certainly not what you would call a 'wallowy old hector' under brake force.
Appreciate that I've only covered 1000 miles in the last 5 weeks and am not sure if that allows me to be more/less qualified to give an opinion? Also that I've fitted new brake pads to other cars as many as 15 times (brakes and pads together about 10), so would like to think I'd know the difference between new/breaking or even when fitting new pads to existing discs.
I can say a definite improvement all around and, dare I say, more so than on any car I've ever upgraded.
The technology of these brake rotors is not new. It has been employed on performance motorcycles for several years. Expect to see this technology in other aftermarket mfgs, at much lower prices. Stoptec is working on this: https://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brak...181110163000:s

Yes and Wortec have been making bike discs for many years, so it puts them in a good place, the differences/advantages as I can see them are:
Wortec are made in the UK/Stopech (spelt correctly) in the USA
Wortec make a point of highlighting the weight saving/Stoptech don't if there was you'd think they'd mention it?
Wortec have been tested on F-types/XFR's and now my XKR/ Stopech don't produce fast street/track discs for any of those
Wortec produce two types of suncut discs/Stoptech don't produce any of this type
So to my mind your comparison is in fact no comparison at all, but thanks for posting
Damn, I just found this thread. I already purchased a set of drilled/slotted rotors and pads from stoptech because I was tired of how dusty the OEM pads are after just a casual drive. When it finally arrived, I strained a muscle trying to pick up a pair of the fronts. Only then did I realize how heavy these were.
I had 2 piece rotors upgrades before in other weekend cars. Absolutely worth the weight savings. The Jag's rotors though are probably the heaviest I've ever had to carry as far as OEM goes.
MarkyUK,
Those rotors look incredible and the weight savings are substantial. Thanks for a terrific write up. Several months ago (last year), I got so fed up with the shimmying of my Brake Stop replacement rotors on my relatively new set even after machining them several times that I went out looking for a set. As you know finding them for an XKR does not leave a lot of choices, but I settled on R1 Concept's Geomet rotors. While they are no lightweights, they look incredible, stop as smooth as silk without any trace of shimmy, don't seem to rust after a wash, are plug and play perfect fit to the XKR, and are so reasonably priced and in stock at $504.00 per set of fronts and rears. I am extremely happy with them as well. Highly recommended and great customer service.
Take a look on the XJ forum. XJ8JR just fitted an 8 piston front and 6 piston rear set up from PB Brakes. Cost was under $5K. Here is a link to the post:
1) that it reverts back to its original plate
2) That the wortecs come off and are returned.
i shall be posting the discs in the for sale section of this forum, after 4yrs, there is no discernable wear and they still look like new, even the ebc reds arent halfway through 30k miles later.
Here's the link for what the fronts alone cost new: 😮
