HELP -2012 XKRS Engine replacement
Hello all-
I am/was the proud and happy owner of a white 2012 XKR-S which I have driven on many many car rally's and taken to the track.
I was a proud brand ambassador - until this past weekend where while driving spiritedly I heard a clatter and then the car shut off.
I am told by Budds Jagaur in Oakville Canada that it may be a bent valve (engine not turning) or complete engine replacement as a worst case scenario.
Where would I start to source a used XKRS engine?

The XKR-S engine is identical to a 2012MY-onward XKR, you could swap one for the other. There were some changes at VIN B47117, like the supercharger bypass changing from a vacuum actuator to a stepper motor, and some small details, and you need to check that the VVT units are are the same on the donor motor as the original.
The engine tune is in the PCM, which you wouldn't be swapping from a donor car anyhow.
You could also take a 5.0L S/C motor from a 2010-2013MY XJ SuperSport, an XFR up to 2012MY, and if you're really stuck a 2010-2013 Range Rover Sport L320, or 2010-2012 Range Rover L322, but if you take the Range Rover motor you'll need to swap the sump, and a lot of bolt-on accessories as well.
Sorry to hear about your motor, but as you can see, there are ways around it.

XKR-S VIN won't help you.
If you want to put the XKR-S tune in an XKR, it's not going to bring you much more power unless you change the exhaust to the XKR-S one, or of a similar design.
The only difference in the XKR-S tune vs the XKR is torque limiters are raised, but the XKR-S can breathe better, because of the exhaust. So the tune complements the exhaust, so to speak.
Or you know there is a proper 600+ hp tune which can be flashed to a 5.0L XKR using SDD, yeah?

I've heard that putting in a different ECU would clash with the current VIN. Could probably be done, but with more finesse.

This one is a XFR but has basically the same engine...probably be ~$2,000 to ship it from Red Deer.

Is there a way to determine what salvage yards these cars end up at so we can inquire about parts? Just searching the VIN usually ends up with results from poctra or similar auction sites, which just say that the vehicle was 'sold'. I doubt they would provide info for the buyer of the car.

I've reached out to the following:
Pacific Motors (Very difficult to work with)
Jaguar Heaven
JagBits
Galaxy Jaguar
Welch Enterprises
Coventry West
XK's Unlimited
Brooks Jaguar Parts
None of them have purchased an X150 for their yard in a very long time... let alone an XKR, XKR-S or similar performance version.
These cars must go somewhere, but I don't see them listed for parts online or eBay. Very strange! Considering the rarity, you'd think they would be easy to trace.

Not sure, but the engine may still be available from this "R" located in Toronto...
