Default X pipe drone question

I have a NA 2008 XK. If driving in a civilized manner I can hear a deep exhaust sound between 1900~2200 rpm which I’m sure would be a pronounced drone if the mufflers were changed or deleted.

My question is, if I replace the front muffler with an X pipe affair, will this droning rear its ugly head when driving in this civilized manner?

The annoying droning resonance on the 2007 and early 2008 cars was cured by an official Jaguar fix: a brace between the exhaust and the transmission casing.

Hi Gregory,

Is this a brace that can be added to the ’07-’08 XK? I have searched for a brace and have not been able to identify this part. Do you have a picture or is it identified in any of the XK parts books?

Thank-you for any assistance available.

I doubt if you can find the parts new anywhere now. But if you search this forum, there was a thread that discussed them (there are 2 braces, one mounted on each side of the transmission), along with drawings, such that you could fabricate your own.

Edit: See this thread, starting at post #42, for part numbers, pictures, drawing:

Yes it is, and I had my dealer fit the Jaguar fix to my 07 car. Instant cure for the droning.

I have a 2011, NA 5.0 XK and replaced the resonator with an X pipe. To me, it sounds way better across the rpm range, with absolutely no drone.

Coincidentally, I had installed the factory x pipe, in place of the centre resonator, then switched it back after the cats were changed.
Too rumbly all the time, especially on long drives.
