You will need one Maserati GranTurismo exhaust system ,

and one ferrari v8 mounted in your jaguar .
that should do it .

agreed it has a magnificent sound . and look !

Higher rpm / different cam profiles is the closest way we can get our cars sounding more like a maserati and less like a stang

Buy an F-Type! Not sure what exhaust mod would result in the higher pitch of the Maserati. Anyone have the Supersprint exhaust on their XK?

An F type would indeed do it.

Once it cools off this fall I'm going to take another whack at mine. DIY kind of sucks when you reap both the good and bad from your work. My resonators at the tip love to drone at exactly 2000 rpm. 2200 and it's OK, 1800 and it's fine as well. I may try to involve some science vs intuitivity so we'll see what comes of it.

Default Just a thought

I had an awful time trying to tame the drone on my 2004 XKR after changing the exhaust several expensive times. I finally had a set of 28" "J" pipes fabricated and welded in to kill that 2000 rpm drone.

Default J pipes

Take two pieces of 2" stainless pipe, weld 2" stainless washers on one end of each, weld up the holes in the washers to blank off the ends. Bend as necessary to mate with the existing exhaust just before or after the resonators and splice/weld them in parallel with the existing pipes. The resonant frequency wavelength of a V8 exhaust at 2000 rpm's equates to 28". The exhaust pulse enters the J pipe and is reflected from the blanked end and arrives back in the main pipe 180 degrees out of phase to cancel most of the drone. It attenuates a good bit of the drone from 1800 to 2200 rpm. Worked for me though the fabricator thought I was nuts.

I can post up a few clips tomorrow for you if you like
I concur. Just change the cats. You'll see.

The spires is pretty decent although pricey .

My personal favourite is the rear box by elite rr (heaven)

If on a budget and looking to drop some weight go velocityap

The 100/200 cell cats will make it very loud and leaves it with a raspy sound down low ..the only reason I did them was was the simple fact of trying to extract as much hp as possible on my n/a 4.2

I second that. Stuart at VelocityAP is a master's master and started making custom exhausts on Jags. He knows Jags inside and out.

Everything is subjective. I'd try to find some video from the cabin at least before plopping down the cash. Of course a ride along would settle most questions too.

The questions you need to ask yourself honestly are.
Do I want this to sound like an exotic car, or do I want to sound like a landscapers truck.
Am I trying to impress sophisticated girls, myself, or the landscape boys.

Once you have come to terms with what the true goal is, Stuart can really guide you how to achieve that.

I can tell you this, every woman, including my wife loves the sound of the exhaust on my xkr even more than I do. That was good enough for me. I am happy that sausages dont come out of the woodwork asking me what muffler I am running or get into a revving competition at the red light with their junk.
