Well Duh...
Um, never. Someone loves to post diffuse imponderables to make himself feel more relevant. Reread the posts and you'll understand the snake oil salesman's charm of the whole thing.
It'll cure whatever ails ya while doing nothing at all...

He reached out to me before posting this and I even offered him all the material he needed on the house. He was a gent and took nothing.
You might be making yourself feel good by pissing in the cat's milk.
Look at it this way, with so many people desperate for a solution, it would be very easy for someone who knows nothing about the subject to capitalize.

You are totally wrong about Cambo. His quest is genuine and only for his gain.

I believe Q&C is in the high end audio biz, as he invited me to meet him at an audio show outside Chicago last year (or maybe the year before, I’ve forgotten the exact date), and I planned to go, but had to bail at the last minute as the wife would have shot me, as we were leaving on vacation the next day.

Sincerely, as you are a proclaimed high end audio guy, what the most relevant and possibly cheapest way to get the mid range audio to balance out against the other spectrum's on our cars?
Focal tweeters and MP3 compression are not topics for this discussion. I don't think DAC's are either. Getting the stock head unit and amps to project sound in a balanced form are. What's the answer? What can the lay person do to improve the sound quality?

Nah, I'm just a dummy who loves to learn new stuff.

I like to learn about cars. I am just a lay person.
Just tell me god damn it how to get more air into my NA engine.
Dont tell me about fuel pump, engine management and exhaust, I know enough to tell you that those things dont matter.
What can a lay person do to improve power in an XK.
Your error is assuming that a lay person can do something quick and dirty.
If that was the case millions before you would have figured it out.
And you could rightfully insult qualified folks as snake-oil-salesman.

Hurt feeling warning...

I'll lay money that a simple speaker swap will bring balance to the sound quality in our cars. So far you've added nothing, absolutely nothing of value to the conversation. High end audio indeed...

To those who are frustrated- realize why you are.
In the old days anybody and everybody could simply change the radio or the speakers and get superb sound.
Even without changing the stock stereo- you could get superb sound.
So why the hell cant you now.
Understand that all the brightest minds in the industry have been working on this problem and unable get in.
Think about how many millions, Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood have lost not being able to sell head units to kids who love to change them. While the car industry has exploded, the car audio industry has been decimated. Then you will be understanding and supportive.

Do it- and make millions.
BTW, those other morons have actually laid money. How much are you willing to put down. It better be at least $50

So again, why can't we just find a speaker that will work to restore the balance? Kind of like off the shelf reading eye glasses with +50 or +100 mid range? I really haven't delved into it yet but assume the basic speakers in our car are pretty flat. It's a pity aftermarket speakers don't show response curves instead of sales pitches in their descriptions.
I don't expect we'll ever be able to go into the programming. Per the aftermarket, I'm pretty sure they are making plenty of money on being OEM suppliers.

In a very short time, we will be releasing a product that solves the fundamental problems. This product 'X' will unfortunately be for a more popular brand of cars. Will get one for Jaguars. Will help out Jaguar lovers.
Beyond that, significantly solve errors and problems with drivers in the Ftype and Xk as my measly contribution.

What I hope for is for a product that can pull all 4 channels off MOST prior to the amp, and provide them as standard line outs. If that could be done along with built in software for equalization (think 20-20k calibration using pink noise to repair any DSP done in the head unit) then the world would open up for us.

They are also working and and completed- significantly improved music, because part of the DSP is compensating for misgivings in the source.
One of the drivers is also very wrong on the XK.
