Default XK Bilsteins (4.2 CATS) Seem to be @ Rockauto

07-09 CATS system Bilsteins seem to be in stock at RockAuto. Only checked fronts, but their price is around $260. These were hard to find last year.

For those who don't know, Jag uses B4 Bilsteins as the base for their CATS dampers.

I just checked price, but did not actually try to order them. So, given RockAuto, not entirely clear if they're in stock or you get "backordered" once you offer your credit card.

Worth a look if you need them. Last year they were $350 or so. My CATS Bilsteins work very well.

Also budget for the mounts and that stiff foam pad they use under the mount. The foam degrades.

Are they not 5.0 part numbers?

They're 4.2 parts.

The cross-refs to the Jaguar numbers seems wrong though - They are 5.0 part numbers, so if searching backwards from them, be careful. These Bilsteins don't match those Jaguar numbers: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.../brand/jaguar/

Good catch. Looks like Rockauto threw several Jag damper part numbers into the same list.

The only RockAuto that applies to the pictured product is the C2P3132 (4.2)*, while the other c2p21693 and c2p21670 are 5.0 product fitments for various years, according the Jag Raleigh's parts list. Since 4.2 and 5.0 use incompatible CATS systems, the 5.0's can't work here. The jlrclassic parts lists structure referenced makes no sense to me at all -- all those adds and deletes get it on one page, and then make it impossible to decode what specific part they're talking about.

Also worth noting old notation black is XK base, green is XKR and yellow is S (? I think).

*Here's Rimmer bros (UK source) for the c2p3132, as an example:

Specifications and additional product information
Jaguar XK 2006-14 - 3.5L models - with Adaptive Control Damping - Quantity Required - 2
Jaguar XK 2006-14 - 4.2L models except Supercharged - with Adaptive Control Damping - Quantity Required - 2

And even at that both should be XK 2006-8, not 06-14, since I don't think any 4.2 were produced after Brit 08 (=USA 09).

I think we all know that sometimes you need to be Sherlock Holmes to find the right PN for Jag parts.

So true! On the other forum, we've just had a fight with 5.0 rear pads and sensors. The parts list and workshop manual are both ambiguous promoting the wrong combination and directing even Jaguar dealer mechanics to bodge the replacement
