XK Courtesy Lights on or off with door open
I have had my 2007 XK for a week now. I noticed that the footwell lights and the overhead light did not come on when I opened the door, as stated in the manual. I search the forums looking for an answer, but found none. After reading the manual and seeing all the double uses for all the different switches etc. I thought about holding the center light button on the overhead console. The overhead light flashed and Voila, The footwell lights and overhead light on come on with the door opening and time out after 15 seconds or so.. I haven't tried to reverse it yet, but I imagine holding the center light switch again for a long hold will reverse it and turn off the footwell lights and overhead light. Just FYI, if anyone has this problem now or in the future.

Since Jaguar went from model specific to generic Owner's Handbooks more than ten years ago, the layout has deteriorated and information is harder to find. Where owners have to rely on the Jaguar website for the information, frustration and anger often set in before finding an answer.
The Interior Lamp activate/de-activate procedure is on page 92 of my 2007MY Owner's Handbook:

Across the model range, huge sections of the handbooks have been created by 'cut & paste'. They also cover both LHD and RHD and all available options so an owner must be familiar with their particular vehicle specification to be able to interpret the handbook.
It's a great shame that the department reponsible for printing the well designed glossy brochures which first entice owners to buy the vehicles couldn't also be responsible for producing the vehicle document sets.
