End results of My 2009 XK flooding in 2015: Jaguar dealer installed the "new engine" from a 2007 XJR 12,000 miles while I was out of town. I never had a call from them first so no choice to say no. I was mad at the insurance company, traded plenty of calls, took me a while to realize that it was the dealer who should have called me before installing. Second, should the insurance company have chosen an older engine even though it had less miles? They said they don't use any older than my 2009 car parts. At 5 months I find out gaskets are already leaking, from a different dealer., New engine had only a 3 month warranty according to original dealer who did repair. I've read on this site that cars not driven a lot that get older can have leaking gasket bc they get old and dried. ?? If so getting a barely used engine was not good. Really difficult to fight with a big insurance co. I haven't had new gaskets installed bc $$$ and it's been a couple year. Don't drive the car regularly. it runs fine. Oil hasn't been low. Electronics seem to mostly be ok. Car IS older. Only issues: seat heater d/n work, radio panel at one point didn't turn on but did after restarting car, passenger window doesn't roll down from drivers side, park brake warning light on. And after 10 + years the map is really outdated. ha
