Default XK front grille removal

I've finally received my new black grilles from Mina which look awesome (and the cf louvres look brilliant too).

Now the instructions to remove the grill and replace with the new one essentially involve pushing the existing grill in toward the radiator from the edges first, then installing some brackets and screwing the new grill into the brackets. It sounds pretty easy, but I'm not handy at all. Has anyone done it? Supposedly you don't have to take the front off.

Any tips would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that are assuming that you have the bumper off the car already. I can't see how you can remove the grill without removing the bumper.

Cheers but no. Before I ordered it I asked and it can apparently be done with it on. Supposedly quite simple (for normal people, I don't profess to be one) and should take about 30 mins.

I'll have a crack at it all and take pictures. If it isn't too embarrassing, I'll post them.

In the end I had a panel shop take the front off and do the job. I think that "gently tap" actually means "hit it quite hard" and I was worried I was going to break something. I posted a picture of the final product in the XKR picture thread.

So can it be done without removing the bumper?

I did, without removing the bumper. It was years ago, so don't press me for details! lol

Has anyone installed a chrome trim ring on an early '07-'09 black mesh grille?

I like the no badge look, for me itīs "cleaner". And the grille is so small anyway, without bagde ist looks a little bit larger.

And I like the identical mesh in the lower grille, didnīt want the original "black slit with dividing bar".
