After installing the MinaGallery exhaust, my XK gained significant amounts of high-end power, as I posted in a previous thread, and lost some low end torque. Now, the car struggles to pull away from 35-45 MPH (1200-1500 RPM) in 6th gear. Such scenario happens often as the highway traffic slows and picks up speed. It really requires a downshift but, the transmission in auto mode seems to be really lazy to downshift from 6th. I have to press the accelerator down quite a bit to downshift and when it finally does the car takes off too fast, which results in having to lift off the gas and the tranny shift right back into 6th gear.

The "DS" selection is great for sporty auto-shift driving but, no help for this kind of freeway/highway driving as at 70MPH it still stays in 4th gear. Full manual shifting is too much pain for extended slow traffic sessions.

I've been really easy on the car and, perhaps, the transmission "learned" this kind of soft driving/shifting routine. Wonder if other people's transmission do instantly downshifts from 6th, as soon as you touch the gas pedal at those low RPMs? Some of my other 6-speed cars have such instant downshift that I really like. I sure would like the XK to do the same, not sure if it can learn it or can the tranny software be programmed for it?

mine won't go into 6 at those speeds.at 35 it won't even go into 5 ,just flick it down with the paddles ,why use kick down.

if you use the paddles it will go back into auto mode ,if you pull and hold the paddle or just leave them alone
