IMO like Imentioned in another thread - the F-type is just too heavy. You get little to no performance gain over an XK[R]. Its smaller by a lot, has NO backseat, NO storage, far rougher ride, nearly as heavy and no performance gain. I think they would be better off in a 400hp car that weighs in @ ~3,000 pounds. But... that's just me and I don't know anything.

In total agreement with you. Coupe looks great. My question is why would they still make the XK(R) they look so similar to F-type.??? Make it a true 4seater? yuk...just get the XJ. Just my thoughts.

I seem to be the only one who doesn't like the coupe. I really don't like the profile of the side windows.
The overall look is very sporty for sure. But it doesn't say luxury or status.
In the coupe, you completely lose the awesome look of that rear trunk lid and the rear haunches.
Meh.
Then again, I really don't like the Cayman compared to the Boxster. So I guess they're not losing any ground in my eyes.

The jury is still out on the F-Type Coupe. I haven't seen any real hard numbers of how many F-Type Jaguar verts have sold since inception back in June 2013. Production is one thing, actual sales is another.
I know the local Jag dealer is still sitting on F-Type converts. While the new Coupe does look nice, once the hype is over, it will be interesting to see when the car is released into distribution and how many sell. We all know the F-type ragtop was hyped quite a bit.
Let's keep in mind the new F-Type Coupe "R" with the 5.0L will start at $99,000. Add in options, and I bet this baby hits the $110,000-$120,000 mark easily.
I believe it will be a limited audience and buyer. The car will still be small, and with limited carry-on space. So let's wait to see what the sales are like. I bet dealers who order inventory or get allocations, will be sitting on these models for awhile. As with the F-Type, the low end model will start at about $66,000, similar to the convertible, but then again, I haven't seen any F-Type verts priced at this low end. If you want to buy the F-Type Coupe and want the performance, you will have to pay up for it.
But, I do like the look ........however, I like my XKR better.

I dont care for the video, the engine sound and the tach dont match each other. Your really hauling the mail at 1500rpm. I thought my XK has no back seats or storage space and you all saying this has less? No reason to hide the looks at night bring it out during the day, mount a couple of GOPRO's and let it rip. I'll pass on 100K.
I do like the oh crap handle for the passenger though.

Having seen/driven the F-type convert it is a pretty cool car. It is small and maybe good for an overnight trip but for 2 people it's great for weekend rides. Also the V6 is not a big seller for a car of this stature and the V8 goes into the triple figures. I suspect the coupe give more room and would add to the space that is lacking in the convert. As for my idea of a 2 seat sports car it would have to be a convert. Although I love the lines of the XK and F coupe I would enjoy the convert more. Just my 2 cents here.

Interesting. I loved the concept photos. Perhaps because the larger wheels made it look lower. In any case I'm just not sure it looks better than the XKR - IMHO. It has a slightly bulbous look. Since it is shorter it just looks "thicker" from rear and profile the the long sweeping XK. And to me, when I cross $100k for a sportscar I want it to have as "non-standard" proportions as possible - read "wide and low". So that when you see from any angle you know its special from its stance and proportions.
That said I am most sure it will drive better than XKR - at least my 11. If they gave it the same rack as in the newer XF or even more aggressive rack, plus more power and a bit lighter. I bet this will be the ultimate driving RWD beast with Panache. C7 Vette doesn't count as it has no panache. But this F Coupe will drive better than 100k 6 series (not sure about M6 which costs more anyhow), MB CLK series except Black version. Which is only a looker to fanatics - others will assume you are a boy racer who jazzed up the smallest little Merc.

I agree with you Evoking on this one. If I had a $100k I'd buy a used Lamborghini Gallardo, Maserati GranTurismo or similar Ferrari.
I'm just hoping the F-type takes a big depreciation dump like other Jaguar models have, in a few years so, that I might pick one up for $30-$40k
Same with the new 2014 Vette. That should be a used car bargain in a few years.

They kinda wandered square into the cross-hairs of ZR1 and Viper with this one.
I know there's not a huge number of people cross-shopping Jaguar vs. the domestics, but do you really want to plunk down that kinda $$$ knowing that your brand new sportscar is immediately 2nd tier in performance?
The F-type 'vert works because it's not perceived to be a *****-out performance car. It's a gorgeous top-down car with good power and very nice features. A great competitor in its niche. The coupe is basically asking: "how about we make the XKR smaller, while not trimming much weight or adding power?"
XKR/XKR-S works because it's a true GT car; that's why I bought one. I would have a much more difficult time pulling the trigger on an F-coupe. Not to mention there's no frickin' way I'd fit in one, given the dimensions of the 'vert...
