Default xkr 4.2 vs Audi S6 V10 5.2 quattro

Should be audi s8 in thrrad not s6,
Left my 07 xkr at the dealer today to get codes sorted P0430 and P0101, as i have posted in previous threads, think cat is gone, got under car and the drivers side cat, (that is the right hand side here in ireland) and gave it a bit of a hit with my hand, i hear a faint jingle in side as well it can be heard a bit after a blast of throttle., rough idle to.
If i was standing at the front of the car facing the windscreen is bank 2 of the engine on my left or right hand side.
Told him to keep till sorted. He gave me a 2008 S8 for the week.
OMG it can move and what a sound.
But for me that's where it starts and finishes. Drive home was a boring except for passing out a few cars. 3 hrs later arrived home ,parked and closed the door. Never looked back at it, just was like another salon to me. Inside is a mess with buttons and drab finish. It's like a big boat on wheels and outside styling is, well i would say i won't even mention it. Don't know why someone would buy a car like this , well i wouldn't get this engine, no need for it in a salon car, it drinks fuel 12-14 mpg driving no more than 100km/hr a good diesel would be better. That's all i'm going to say about it for me there's no comparison to the xkr and it.
I know the xkr is a coupe and the S6 is salon, but the S8 is meant to make a driver fell like he has a special motor, but it doesn't cut it.
Miss my cat all ready, sleepless nights ahead and to make it worse people were taking pictures of it and point as it was parked outside the dealers as i drove off, want it back all ready. Every morning loved to just look at it with a nice cup of coffee every morning. Loved to do the same with my old 04 xk8 now sold, Jag's have that something special effect that other makers can't achieve. Hope i get it sorted and i can get back to trouble free driving.

The majority of Audi folks scorn the S6 V10. The motor was less than reliable, outdated even in its day, and easily out performed by the more modern A6 3.0T with tweeks from APR.
As a past Audi owner, I love the brand, but reliability killed me. It is the only car I have owned that saw the service center 8 times in 1.5 years, twice on the back of a flat bed.

good info, can't see the sense in this car as a second hand buy, much better options out there. Looking around UK for best price on cats but nothing yet. Saw a site in US that has a good price on both, but think shipment would be a issue.

Re: which side is Bank 2:

References to Bank-1 and Bank-2 are made with regard to the engine. When viewed from the flywheel the right-hand bank will be Bank-1 and the left-hand bank will be Bank-2.
So, if you're in front of the car, Bank 2 is on the right.

Default audi v10 driver was not impressed with his own car

A year ago I had to drive downtown during rush hour here in Denver CO USA. During the stop and go in my 2002 XKR black coupe, I came across an Audi sedan with a V10 symbol on the side. Since I usually drive with my windows down, it was easy to look over, smile and ask "How's the V10 engine?"

"Eh! It's ok. I'm not that excited about it," he said with some form of accent from the British Empire.

"Really?" I replied incredulously.

"Yes. Now your car, you should keep that FOREVER. Beautiful!"

In retrospect, I realize what a major compliment that was. Rich clients of mine say the same thing. I only recently came around to the same conclusion.

Don't think I would ever buy an Audi. Not reliable, not built for the long haul, complicated to fix, and parts cost a lot. Thought about an R8, but it's still an Audi...

I like the styling of the Q7.
