Default XKR convertible rear window won't shut

I just installed my new battery on my 2012 XKR convertible and the rear windows won't go up. I reset my clock and brake. I opened my convertible top multiple times and everything works great except the rear windows went down the first time and now won't come up again. Everything else works great. Help its cold out.

Most problems are the fault of a Low Voltage battery. Check yours! It should be 12.6-12.8 for a lead-acid.
Other than this, you need to talk to White XKR, he's the expert on convertibles and windows and such. Also, you HAVE to buy his Top Controller, it's the BEST accessory for your car!

Gene,

And I thought Vikings thrived in the cold!

Seriously, try resetting the windows. As I recall, you need to lower the driver's side and keep holding the switch down down for 2 seconds after it's down. Then close that window and keep holding the switch up for 2 seconds after it's closed. Repeat with the passenger side. Hopefully, your rear windows will close.

Stuart

P.S. +1 on Cee Jay's advice to buy WhiteXKR's remote control top. See: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-video-109235/

I'm in a similar position to you JagRag... except I do get window movement. Tried all the simple fixes like window resets and checking the luggage separator/trunk. Removed fuse #8 from the rear seat fuses for 10 minutes. Done all of the process with disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery, followed by manually putting the roof into its open position. I hear clicking like solenoids from near the fusebox in the rear seat, but it seems the hydraulics aren't working properly... it would disconnect from the windshield on its own when in the closed position. Watching where this thread goes! As a last resort, I'm charging the battery, even though it's never given me a problem starting up, and I had no warning lights on the dashboard.

Be persistent and do the window reset several times. Sometimes the reset does not 'take'. Make sure you are doing it in both window up and window down positions.

You have now heard from the Forum's resident expert on convertible tops and windows. Make sure you follow his instructions and you should be able to solve your problem(s).

My friend's XK8 had an issue with the soft top not opening. Having fixed that by stowing the boot/trunk luggage cover properly, the hood would open but quarter lights stayed down. This window reset fixed the issue! Many thanks from me (and him).
