The 08 Portfolio is "Celestial Black" on a cloudy day it looks black but under the sun and lights it is defiantly blue. The Alcon brakes are standard on the 08 Portfolio.

 

That car is perfect. You are buying a $100,000 dollar car that is brand new and beautiful.

 

There is no question that this is a beautiful car. However, the buy it now price is not realistic regardless of the mileage. Also, the interior color is the kind that you would have to drive the car with surgical gloves and NO JEANS in order to keep it clean. Mid 40s is where you should be or for the buy it now price you can easily find 2010s and 2011s with good mileage.

 

My XK8 had Oatmeal leather; not quite as pale as Ivory, but close. And I wear black jeans pretty much all the time. There was some dye transfer, but it always washed off OK. So I wouldn't let it worry you too much.

Anyway, this a red herring - the OP wants a coupe, not a vert.

 

I had ivory in my first XF (prem lux, ivory and oyster it was a gorgeous interior) and it didn't mark at all. I did though rub the dye off the joins in the leather at the bottom of the seat back, from my *** sliding in and out

 

Dye transfer can be tricky. If cleaning the leather gets just a little too aggressive or too frequent, the factory dye comes off as well. That is why I have always stayed with the darker interiors after my experience with a beige interior.

 

The most important thing I'd want (as someone who drives my XKR mostly for fun and not running errands around town) from the 5.0L variants is the dynamic mode and a full manual mode on the transmission. The 4.2 will upshift and kickdown even when it's in paddleshift and sport mode if you put your foot down hard enough (in too low a gear) or if you hit the redline. The 5.0L will bounce off the rev limiter and not shift until you tell it to. The extra 100 horsepower would not be the deciding factor for me!

 

For practicality, Charcoal leather is hard to beat, though in my case it does lead to a rather unremittingly dark-grey car. But the 75 comes in any colour as long as it's grey...

When I was selling my XK8, I needed to re-surface the seat where 13 years of getting in & out had worn the surface of the bolster. I found a product on eBay from these guys:

Dynamix Dyes

It's basically a colour-matched flexible acrylic paint that you sponge on. It really did the trick, though I can't attest for longevity as I sold the car not long after.

The carfax says it's a two owner car (first owner was as a company car). Also, the carfax report ends around 53k miles and the owner is selling it with 61 on the clock... why the discrepancy?

Otherwise, it looks like I could stretch to get in this one for low 40s and it's a 2010....

 

Listing has ended. Would be good to know what options it actually has; you could go onto TOPIX and enter the VIN to get the full build details. There's something odd - it says 19" wheels, but I thought all XKRs come with 20". The CarFax gap may be because it's been serviced by someone who doesn't input to CarFax (sorry, I don't know whether it's compulsory or not) - I'd want to see receipts to cover that period. Mileage is high-ish, but not a problem if it's been well-maintained, particularly if you don't intend to pile on the miles yourself.

 

What is this topix you speak of? I looked on google but couldn't find anything.

The miles are a little daunting, especially given the lapse in Carfax history. Looking at articles on the car, it seems that the 19's were standard and that 20's were optional so that would be normal.. I think.

I need to see what the deal is with the last 8k miles and would hope that I can get some kind of warranty (30 days or so) so that I could just get it looked at by my guys and not be stuck with it if there is something catastrophically wrong.

20 inch wheels were an option on the 2010 XKR. A very frequently selected option, but an option just the same..

Try to hold off for a better deal on a lower mileage car. I bought a 2010 XKR coupe last Oct with 13k mi for $49 k on ebay. 19 in wheels which was what I wanted, with adaptive cruise (which I'm still not sure if is std).

 

Adaptive cruise is an option.

 

Someone mentioned the other day that it was standard on the 2010 XKR in the US. I wasn't aware of that but as you can see from the attached, they appear to have been correct.

 

Fair enough - these regional differences are confusing. Anyway, you can tell if you have it because the steering wheel will have two thumbwheels on the right-hand spoke, one for speed and the other for following distance. The standard cruise only has the speed thumbwheel.
