Default XKR : Most Common Colors?

I'm currently in the market for an 08+ XKR and was curious about color combos. What is considered more typical and what is viewed as less common?

It seems to me that gray and black are the norms with blue and green less common and white even less commonplace.

Is that about right?

Also, I am looking at the 08 and above to avoid the "antenna" issue. Are there other common issues that cause people to look at certain years? I'm likely going to end up with an 08/09 with around 40-60k on the clock at a price point just north of 30k. Does that sound reasonable?

Sorry for the noob questions. I'm a long-time BMW guy (hence the screen name) and also have a P38 Range Rover (99) which I love.. in fact, that's the reason for the Jag interest (to some extent anyway).

All of your questions have been discussed here in length. You might want to search gthe XK/XKR threads for your answers.

For colors, here's a link to look at:

Online Automobile Photo Archives | GTcarlot.com - Car and Truck photo galleries | GTCarLot.com

Hope this helps

Probably the same color popularity for all similar cars with silvers, black, and grey's being the most popular.

Take a look at this...

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...egistry-97446/

For my part, I've never understand why grey is so popular. I had one grey car and realise that ALL the cars are grey. Prefer red, blue, yellow, etc...

I'm actually quite happy with my silver, however, I will admit when we get 7 to 10 Jag together, the lack of color in a group photo is very apparent!

I have been searching for the last 6 months and mainly looking at 2012 and 2013 convertibles. In the first few months I also looked at the 2010-2013 but when I zero'ed in on 2012 I stopped looking at earlier cars. Once again only XKR's . I have looked at over 100 or so cars and only 3 of them were colors other then Black , Silver , White and gray. Most were one of the blacks (ebony , midnight or ultimate) and the silvers were liquid. I also noticed that if you want a coupe they were mostly french racing blue or black or silver. Now if you want to buy an XK they came in various other colors and mostly had wood trim with light color interiors. Just my observations.

US choices might differ, but in the UK right now, there are 21 07-09 XKRs for sale via authorised dealers (numbers are low because dealers here don't tend to stock older models - there are 135 5.0 XKRs). Of those 21:

10 are grey/silver
9 are black
1 is blue
1 is red
0 are green, white or gold

That pretty much matches what I expect, from experience during my own search. I think white is a bit more popular in the US.

The market has changed a lot since this thread was made.

There really are not a lot of '08/09 XKR's on the market.

And judging most common by what is on the market isn't accurate, as some colors may attract people that are longer term owners.

If you're interested in only the 4.2L XKR and iPod connectivity integrated with the touchscreen and steering wheel controls is important to you, then the 2009 model year is the one to get because that model year is when iPod connectivity became standard equipment. An Audio Connectivity Module became available as a dealer installed accessory for the 2007 and 2008 models, but they're hard to find now and occasionally come up on Ebay.

The least common North American market 4.2L models are the limited production 2008 and 2009 XKR Portfolios. All 2008 Portfolio models were Celestial Black with Cremona wheels and included the Alcon Performance Brake Package as standard equipment. All 2009 Portfolio models were Shadow Gray with Selena wheels, but Alcons were a $5,000 option. Adaptive Cruise Control was optional on both years. Those colors and wheels were unique to those Portfolio models.

Here's my 2009 XKR Portfolio convertible with the rare Ivory and Slate interior with Rich Oak veneer. Most interiors were black and many had Spun Aluminum trim. Everything is leather; there's no vinyl. Adaptive Cruise is indicated by the two thumbwheel controls on the right side of the steering wheel. Alcon brakes are indicated by the red 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers and oversize rotors with crescent-shaped grooves.

How rare is it? https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ertible-45154/

You should also consider the 2010 XKR, as the 5.0L SC engine is a 510HP monster with huge low-end torque and, as the introductory facelift model, it included the E-diff and Adaptive Cruise as standard equipment. Yes, overkill for most street drivers but a hoot!

We have seen several instances of this happening and I suspect it could be the recent "infinite scroll" that is leading to entirely irrelevant old threads.

Good catch, Graham! It's too easy to inadvertently wind up in the "Related Thread" while fast scrolling down. I've done it and I'm sure that's why old threads are resurrected. Time to eliminate that feature. I feel pretty stoopid now, having replied to the OP of that old thread.

I don't have infinite scroll, I remember it catching me though, somewhere.

Maybe it was a different forum, or maybe I figured out how to turn it of and forgot I did so.

Infinite Scroll can be disabled from the User CP. Go to Settings and Options, Edit Options, and scroll down to Thread Display Options:

Yup I thought I was posting in the "best color" thread.

Turning off infinite scroll now.

Alternatively, leave Infinite Scroll on, and turn off Related Threads. Depends which you find more useful.
