I have seen one or two articles misquote the convertible using the coupe's weight as a spec.

All other reviews show the convertible is slightly heavier than the coupe.

Coupe is ~3,968 lbs

Vert is ~4,079 lbs.

So, you should still have the lighter one! lol

Default Weight Coupe vs Rag Top

The coupe version of a car is always lighter than the same car as a convertible. Soft tops need more bracing for rigidity. The reason for that is when there is no roof there is much more flex in the body.

I have never seen an article quote the correct kerb weight for the XKRS coupe. The Jaguar manual lists the kerb weight for the XKRS Coupe as 3861 lbs.

Cheers!

I wonder if that is the dry weight? Gas is about 6.4lbs per gallon. Plus add the other fluids...That could easily make up the 107 lb. discrepancy between the press and the owners manual.

6.4 x 16 gallon tank = 102.4 lbs

All I know is I really like this car! It is superb, and I love how the convertible isn't overly heavy compared to the coupe like in most other brands. It's very well designed, nice and tight. No shudder or flex.

I got a compliment today from someone in the parking garage at work and I didn't even drive it in today. That's how much of a lasting impression it makes.

That's funny. You are literally in a fish bowl. Yes, tint your windows with a light 35%. I'm having my windows tinted before I take possession of it. It's in the shop getting the work done now and the front/sides are getting a paint protection wrap.

Can anyone check couple of things for me on XKR-S?

1. "Global windows close" option does not appear to work on my car. To check, open any window, then close the doors, press and hold for 2-3 sec "close" bottom on the fob. Car is supposed to lock and close all the windows. "Global windows open" works fine for me (it's when your car is locked and you press and hold unlock key. The car unlocks and windows open). I verified that both options are "ON" under vehicle/settings/security window

2. What is passive arming (same window). It's always "off" for me. If I try to set it "on", it switches back "off".

Anyone else has the same issues?

Never mind on #1. I found a way to make it work. The manual is wrong. Cannot enable #2 but I don't think I'll need it

So I am looking at the specs for F-type S. It appears a bit heavier than xkrs coupe, 50hp less power, but it's faster to 60 and 1/4 mile? Why? Better transmission or traction? Confused ...

I don't think you can conclude much from what you can read right now between all the different tests and reviews.

In addition, it appears Jaguar and the media have two different weights for the V8S.

For example: For the F-Type, Jaguar says 3,671 and Motor Trend says 3,965.

Motor Trend says 0-60 for F-Type in 3.9 seconds, and The Truth About Cars says XKR-S does it in 3.8. Jaguar says 4.2.

Either way, between these two beasts it is really splitting hairs. Ultimately, I think the F-Type is lighter and it has the 8 speed transmission.

The XKR-S has more power, but is geared with the 6 speed and is slightly heavier.

Forget the specs and drive it like you stole it!

Been trying to figure that one out myself. From the test drive, I still say the F type is lighter than the instrumented data shows.

The V8S sprints 0-60 in 3.6-3.8 seconds, which gives blurry vision very easily.

It does have 8 speed transmission, but shouldn't make much difference from 0-60 as it only reaches 4th - if that.

BTW, F Type-R will be equipped with Carbon - ceramic brakes.....Go Jaguar.

Did you have to go to a wider wheel to fit the 305's on the back? I was looking in to putting 305's on my XKRS but Jag could not tell me if it would create problems. Have you had any issues with the wider tires? I was also told that the Super Pilot Sports did not come in that size. Darn it!

DRC, here is the thread where he discusses the tires. Look like a good fit, no problems.

No changes to the stock wheels were necessary, and no spacers used. Pilot Super Sport part number for the rear 305/30/ZR20/XL 103 (Y) is 87598. For the front 265/35/R20/XL 99 (Y) is 78123. Those part numbers are the Michelin part numbers. If you have Discount Tire in your area, their code is 15926 for the rear and 15389 for the fronts. Be aware that there are two 265/35 tires for the front, and it is important to get the one with the XL (Extra Load) rating for our car.

There are no clearance issues, but it is VERY close. The back tires may appear to have a clearance issue when up on the lift while being installed (they touch the inner wheel well liner slightly), but when the car is back on the ground and the suspension is in a normal state all such issues are resolved!

Here is a link to the rear tire size on the Michelin website:
305/30R20 Tires | Michelin Tires

Good luck!

If you look on EBAY for XKR-S's there are a number and the VIN is usually given as part of the ad.

e.g. SAJWA4HA0CMB47870 for a 2012 coupe

Hi , I cant find any with this on. Was this a genuine advert with this number on.

You don't need to quote a chassis number in a advert as a rule. Its only about manufacture information. Its the last six I need. B onwards. Jaguar need this to order parts for the RS model. I will go to a dealer with one for sale and have a look, everyone seems too scared to let me have a number. Its actually riveted on the dash of your car for the whole world to see through the front windscreen.
