Default XKR seats - is this a big deal

Hello Everyone:

Looking at a 14 XKR with these factory OEM Ricaro looking seats. The ones with the high connected headrest. Tell me about them. Are they cushioned enough for a long trip? Are they hard to get out of? I am older so I don't want to have a hand pull installed on the inside of door to pull myself out.
Is it worth buying instead of the regular seats? Any help would be great. Don't worry, When I get my jag I will post pictures for everyone.

Thanks

JDog

You're in Houston. If ventilated seats are important to you, forget about the Performance Seats. Here's what owners have to say:

Heck with ventilated, the non-S seats are cooled. That comes in VERY handy with the sun and an open top.

Atlanta is more comfortable than Houston in August, which is usually the hottest Summer month. My XKR doesn't have cooled seats, but my XJ does and I hardly ever need to use that feature. If the seats were black, I'm sure I'd need to cool them more often.

In August, Atlanta is hot - usually around 90°F - but the humidity isn't bad except after it rains. Atlanta is inland, and most people don't realize that Atlanta is in a pine forest on a 1,050-foot plateau. That's why Atlanta's climate is more temperate than most other Southern (and many Eastern) cities. Because of the elevation, it's usually breezy.

The average heat index in August is around 103°F.

Houston is brutally hot and humid because it's barely above sea level and only around 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Moisture off the Gulf makes it very humid, with an average heat index of around 120°F.

The Recaro seat is great design but does compromise on cushion comfort and ease of accessibility.

Jaguar has offered the Recaro and Recaro style options since the earlier XK8 model. There was a point then because the Recaro offered much better lateral support in hard cornering. However, the front seats in the X150 provide good lateral support with the adjustable bolsters combined with a higher level of comfort.

I'm two years older than you and don't have any issues getting in or out of the car. Before the pandemic, several times we had put over 1000 miles in a day on the roads of Continental Europe. The X150 is an excellent vehicle for long distance, high speed touring.

Thanks everyone for your input. Yes it is hot in Houston. Humidity is around 100% year round. When we have a low humidity day in Houston, it is bearable. Ya'll have answered my question. I will just wait until I find exactly what I want in seats. I noticed that the performance seats do not have small holes. So they can heat but cannot cool. Black coupe, black seats, August in Houston Texas, the A/C better work well.
Thanks for all your comments.

Good luck to you JDog

The performance seats ideally suit the colder European climates, so perfect for the UK where it rarely rises above 75f even in the height of Summer. Never once in 39yrs of driving have I thought 'Gee my @rse is hot'

The problem that you have is that most of the 2014 (US MY 2015) XKR's may have the sports seats as they were trying to 'upspec' them as the last of the line o sell.

I for one am glad I bought my 2014 Dynamic R, but had I lived in SoCal, Texas, NM or Hawaii I'd defo go for ventilated/cooled seats...so you may have to go for an older MY to get what you want.
