Default XKR stock hood vents - replacing them with the Jag accessory version...

Sorry to bother you with this, but I'm trying to install the Jag XKR accessory hood vents (part# C2P20035XXX). It shouldn't be hard, but it kinda is and I don't want to force/break anything. The instructions that came with the part aren't clear at all and I searched the forum with no lock. Would you be able to supply some instructions for how to remove/assemble/install these? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Mark

Mark,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X150 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

i installed these on my XKR. It was't easy. I had to get just the right sequence of what to clip in first. There was no rhyme or reason - just had to play with it till they fit.

I've checked TOPIx and there's no fitting instruction guide listed for these.

ditto. Had to move the vent back and forth until all tabs were set. Operative word: patience.
As to not mar the paint I wrapped the edges with wax paper, then pulled it out following the installation.

To remove, take a plastic trim tool and pry the tabs from inside (under the hood). While prying on the tabs push the insert outward. Keep applying the pushing force while prying the other tabs. The tabs should pop out one at a time. Once you have all the tabs on a single side out, you can pop out the whole insert. The plastic trim tool is key so you don't scratch the paint.

To install the new ones, pop in the tabs on 1 side so its lined up correctly, then swing the insert down and use a rubber mallet to pop in the rest of the tabs from the top of the hood. After installation, mine were a bit loose, so I removed them and put gorilla tape on each tab to make them thicker, so they could still 'pop' in, but they wouldn't move around.

I will accept you old OEM inserts as payment for this advice =]

Thanks to everyone for their input...much appreciated. To 'gkubrak'...special thanks to you for the details. However, I'm planning to keep the original ones. Someday I may want to return to the stock look. :-)
