Default XKR Winter Driving

I moved the car for the 1st time since November. I got stuck just turning the car around in the street with a inch or two of snow on it. I can't imagine driving the car in a snowy state like Michigan. Does anyone try and do you put on special tires?

Summer tires will never work in the snow.

My XKR got stuck in snow with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos with just a dusting!

It has been around freezing here for the last few weeks. I have taken the car out the last few weekends with no snow on the road and I have to be careful. Normal driving does not get the tires warm enough and I have to be very careful accelerating.
Took it out once when we had snow on the ground to take pictures and video of the new exhaust and could only idle down the road, any throttle at all caused the tires to spin.

It will be much better than expected with the right tires, but no, I still would not want to drive it regularly in the snow.

Maybe if I had an XK with a limited slip diff and snow tires, it would be better. But then why would I take a car like an XK out in the snow with all that salt?!

:-)
Come on up to Ottawa. I've put the Michelin sport winter tires on the 19s from the XJR. Installed on the XKR and it drives wonderfully. Thinner tires work better in the snow.

Cheers

Default 2008 XKR Portfolio

The 2008 XKR Portfolio has 20 inch Cermona Wheels with 275/30zr rear tires. So i don't think I will ever drive it in the winter, unless I am driving it to Florida and lately that has been on my mind.
