Yea, or Nay??
Every Jag we've had sported a leaper on the hood, but they were all sedans. Is it, "proper", to put a leaper on an XKR? Is the slope of the hood too much and would that slope make the cat seem to jump to the ground?
If you put one on your car, was it on the front valence, or on the hood that opens?
Pictures if you have 'em!!

You will get some purist claiming you will ruin the car, personally I am a fan. My first XK (unfortunately totaled in the first year) already had the leaper installed. The prior owner was a lawyer with a 50 year history of Jag ownership, every Jag he owned got the hood leaper. Picture of the first XK below. Your car do what you want.
I don't have one on the replacement XK but dig the look either way.

If you NEED a leaper up there, stick a flat one on the nose.

While I like the look of the photo, the group consensus so far is that it isn't kosher. Seems that a leaper is to Jag as the RR is to Rolls; which is part of the package, but what is the intent of the XK style that would suggest not adding the leaper?

On every car with a proud upstanding statuesque emblem, there is a defined point on the front of the car where it is obviously placed. The XK has no such design.

Certainly personal preference but IMO bonnet ornamentation doesn't suit the modern intent of the X150 and was best suited to the classic saloons such as the X350. I'm not that old but I'll butt in with Jaguar really missing a massive opportunity...the X350, X200 and X400 had the most beautiful lines of any marque in a "modern" world of copycat body lines. If the X351 had retained ANYTHING of it's ancestry I would have bought one, but alas they didn't. Odd, considering Land Rover's managed it so well. Anyhow getting way of topic...

I've always liked the leaper as a car symbol (no surprise) but I have to agree that it just doesn't work on the X150.
Don't recall the XKE having one as well, and the x100/150 designs springs (heh) from that.
I agree that the non-edged slope of the hood in all of them just doesn't let the leaper look right. Leaping downward seems ....odd.

Anyway, in trying to fix the OEM light, I've messed with the donor one so it isn't for sale, just parts. The Lens is excellent, for in case anybody needs a good one.

I haven't bought the leaper (and sure glad I didn't) so nothing there, but if you need any parts for a RH headlamp, let me know. The PO had an impact with a deer that jarred a lot of internals loose on the OEM turn-the-light-as-you-turn the wheel, and bought a replacement without that feature = blinking light on the dashboard. I cannot abide a blinking light on the dash or I'd have kept the LRs I bought. Land Rovers seem to create lights just to amuse us.

As luck would have it, I'm older than dirt and don't get involved with the modern world's wonders, so I let my bride do the TV control and my $12 phone is too complicated for me, lol. However, let me dig and dig and see if I can make the dead headlight come to life as a non-blinking light. Otherwise, I'll be asking for who or what a SDD is.

Love that pic, Stuart. Notice he's on a flat hood.....
Bama, search SDD on the forum. It's JLR's earlier Symptom Driven Diagnostics, the dealer service diags for our X150's. Does a lot, but primitive interface and a PITA to learn. Kind of have to dedicate yourself for a few weeks to figure it out.
