OK I'm using my car about 4 times a week and I seem to have a little habit based on the amount of threads about the battery. I have no reason to believe that my battery is going but here is my habit. After starting the car in the garage I wait until it goes from open loop to closed loop and the idle goes down to its normal set point (650 or 750 rpm). I then back out of the garage and place it in park. I engage the top down button and at the same time run the revs to about 1200 rpm (this is the habit). When the top is fully down (bell heard) I let off of the gas and am on my way. I guess the habit came from my old Ferrari where the alternator didn't kick in until you hit around 1100 rpm. I know it can't hurt but just wanted to see if others do this.

I don't use the revs.........I can lower the top from inside the garage before pulling out or after. I simply place the car in park, I lower the front windows (I don't know why, just habit) let the top go down, off I go. Since the top is not powered by the engine RPMs, would see no reason to think you might be adding more power to the battery to get the top down.
As WhiteXKR stated, you will charge the battery while driving.
