Your 2007+ XK Mistaken For ...

Interestingly enough I had NEVER heard of or seen an XK before looking up aston martin's due to the james bond movie Casino Royale - this was this year. While looking at the aston martin's I saw a db9 for sale locally from like 2007 with 4000 miles. I think saw a V8 vantage and did some research. it was then i saw they get there V8's from Jaguar so i jumped over to Jaguar and the first picture I saw was of the XKR-S. Then started doing research on the XKR-S and watching top gear - where several times Jeremy said the XK was a DB9 for HALF THE PRICE. Indeed my new XKR-S is a DBS in performance for HALF THE PRICE (130k vs 280k). Why would ANYONE buy a DBS when they can get a gorgeous XKR or XKR-S or even XK for less than half the price is beyond me!!! AND NO GAS GUZZLER TAX!!

Mostly I've gotten "What is that?" which almost always surprises me as I expected everyone to know the mark as well as I do....even though my current car is my first, I've always been an admirer.
Two folks have said Maserati....definitely similar shape and size, but I'd think the Jag was better known.
A select few know exactly what it is...

Must be just in the US where the Jag gets mistaken, I've never had this problem here in the UK. The Brits seem to know Jags.
However the opposite happens with my Corvette Z06, these cars are super rare here. There's only one official dealer for the whole of the UK, but still sold as left hand drive (wrong side ), I forever get comments...is that a Ferrari? Lambo etc. !

My twin brother an I both pilot '07 XKs (mine has an extra letter tacked on the end, however, because I have an inferiority complex and/or because he's a jacked bodybuilder and I lack the strength necessary to open a jar of pickles).
Anyway, I was telling him that all within the same week I received five!
And, here they are:
"..is that..
..a Cadillac?"
hopefully meant an XLR and not a Catera
..an Ashton Martin D9?"
not a typo
..a California?"
up here in my head it is, friendly Daytona City Police Officer
plus:
"Which oneuhyuh's jockin' the 'Turizzmo??" put some Long Island stank on that one, and it'll be like you were there
and finally, my personal favorite*:
"Say, buddy. Is this the new Camaro??"
Why, yes! Yes it is.
*This was a homeless man, therefore, although I award him no points for creativity, I will allow him to retain any point(s) he may have already had,.. because his WiFi probably blows.

These are just a few of the benefits of owning a car so full of unbridled majesty, and which rivals a caped unicorn galloping over a gumdrop-encrusted rainbow—however, my favorite road question is as bold as it is classy (and must be *shouted*from the driver's seat of a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire at the unsuspecting XKR pilot, whilst he innocently fuels-up:
"Hey, how much y'all pay for that?! That thaaaaang's naaaaaaaaasty, bro!!"
One must fight the urge to clumsily blurt out a horrifyingly-incomprehensible figure in reply—but then immediately be ready to calm the now-angry trophy girlfriend seated withinsaid XKR...
Disclaimer: this list is courtesy of Central Florida's population-at-large, where we don't drive 'Jaguars'... Instead, we dun gots us a whole messa 'Jagwires'.
Happy motoring!

DB9, definitely. From my previous thread, in case you haven't seen it: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...xkr-db9-60537/
And if you want both simultaneously, here's the Jaston - a wrecked XK8 rebodied as an Aston Martin:Jaguar XK8 disguised as Aston Martin DBS lands on eBay
My apologies for the reruns, but I thought they fit this thread, too.

[QUOTE=Tahoe Dave;614619]To be sure, this car gets more attention than any that I've ever owned. In my case, I get "what is that...?" as opposed to "isn't that a..."
Amen, This car gets so much attention no matter where you go. Gas stations, grocery stores. I also get stopped and asked "What kind of car is that?"
Or....that is a beautiful car, what is it?

Jaguar, Aston, Maserati? Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, and it's easy to confuse one with another.
That reminded me of the old story about the WWII RAF veteran who gave a talk to a class of school children, and was trying to explain what a typical mission was like.
"So there I was, escorting the bombers to their target, when out of the blue we were attacked by a bunch of Fokkers. There were about 20 of these Fokkers. One took out my buddy, but I managed to shoot the Fokker down. Then one was on my tail and I coukdn't shake the Fokker, but my pal took care of him. Then I took out two more of the Fokkers..."
The teacher interupts, and says: "Children I should explain, the Fokker was a type of figher airplane used by the German Air Force to stop the RAF bombers and their escorts."
"Yes", said the veteran, "but these Fokkers were Messerschmitts!"
My age is showing. I thought that some of you youngsters might not have heard it.
