Dirty fuel pump filter?
Gentlemen
wondering if the fuel line on the xk150 is gravity feed to the su pump. If so then I have to drain it or disconnect fuel line at pump and quick shove a hose on it to rise above tank level to minimize spillage ?
tank and pump new 20 yrs ago. But I just started using non ethanol gas a couple yrs ago. Spits back snd loses power when pushing it hard. Carbs all clean and new points and condenser. Good spark .
no other filters other than original on carb inlet
so must be the filter on the su pump ?
thanks Andy
thanks for your input

Hi Andy,
The fuel tank is not gravity fed to the fuel pump. The pump draws the fuel out of the tank and forwards it to the carbs. The line in the tank is surrounded by a filter that is located in the bottom of the tank. If you can drain the tank you should check that filter first. If that's ok then check the fuel pump screen.

Xk150 fuel tank filter
Thanks for replies. . Can you post a diagram of where the tank filter is ? Is it attached to the drain plug ? And the fuel line is adjacent ? The filter is removeable ?
or does fuel line have to be removed from tank?
this can be done while tank is in the car ??
I have a Ford flathead v8 hotrod w race motor. They put a fancy cartridge filter outside the tank which is easily cleaned ( after siphoning the tank as no shut off)
shall I consider doing this to the 150?
