I am helping a family friend with the selling of a restored XK120 convertible that has been in garage storage for 8 years. Will post more when I get it running and cleaned up.. I Have ordered some manuals, but in the mean time I need to replace the Batteries. Is the access from the boot or paneling behind the seats? Have determined the last battery replacement was with two 6 volt L19 size; so I am presuming at this time it's original with positive ground. Details on access location and removal of Battery cover is needed. Any recommendations on what is the best 6 volt battery as a replacement will be appreciated.

The VIN number of the XK 120 is S 678223 , Is there any significance to the S?

Its a long time since I did this but from memory you pull the seats right forward and there is a battery cover panel behind the seats.
Can't recommend any 6-volt batteries. About the last time I touched a 6-volt battery was in an early VW Beetle 20 years ago

 

S means special equipment. Sometimes known as SE or XK120 M.
