Default XK120

What batteries are available for the xk120 battery boxes behind the seats in my 1953 FHC?

Does yours still have the two 6 volt batteries fitted ? Most people convert to a modern compact 12v battery that fits one of the holders. I can't tell you what size is available, sorry.
You can still get the original 6v type as well.

Default XK120 Batteries

I don’t have batteries at the moment. Every 10 years or so I replace all the fluids and drive for about 10 miles or so. The batteries used to die quickly even later when I used a battery maintainer.
So looking for a more modern battery; either 2 six volts or 1 or 2 12 volts that fit in the boxes.
Car info: 43K miles about 98% untouched. 8:1 compression motor.

Default Perfect fit batteries

Found perfect fit battery for the XK120 behind the seat boxes. At Tractor Supply of all places. Only needed one 12 volt as it turns the car over fine.

I have a 1954 XK120 OTS and use a single Mazda Miata 12 volt battery. Not a lot of cranking power but does the trick. I run my car in the winter and it struggles to turn over but fires up. I keep a charge on it in the winter to have maximum capacity.
