Air Intake Hose Repair

Gus i have one better. Cut the bellows completely out and replace it with a piece of plastic tube. the tube I used I got from pep boys in the aisle with the custom airintake products. I bought a 6" tube and 2 silicone hose sections, and 4 breeze hose clamps. I have a pic some where I'll send it to you. Or find the post that shows it.
Look in meatmans post "looking for pics of white coupe with white rims" Scroll thru and you will se some pics I sent. The last pic although not close up you can see the repair I did about 4 years ago.

I did think about cutting it out and installing a new hose, I also did the tape but it did not hold up. I have rubber tape that will bond making one mold that we use on wire but elected not to do that because of the heat in the area. The repair I did is presently on the underside and is hardly seen from the top. I also put that short section as a heat shield. Well we will see if it works.

The hose set up I put in will still have movement via the two silicon couplers. And me being a cheapass, which is an a play on words in itself, I thought there has to be a better way with common parts. The chrome tube was $8.00 the silicone hoses about $8.00-$10.00 and the hose clamps about $3.00. In the 4 years this has been on I just replaced the tube a second time because of the heat comming off the exhaust manifold. This time though I put a length of reflective heat tape on the bottom side.
