Default Antifreeze types

Thought this interesting - from time to time members ask about antifreeze types - this seems to explain the various issues Choosing The Best Coolant: It’s Just Antifreeze, Right? | FCP Euro

Just to muddy the water .................... I assume it's the same with US cars as UK cars, but there are THREE different types of coolant for the XK range and although colo(u)rs are not necessarily a definitive indication of type, there is the blue/green "traditional" type of glycol based (I believe) liquid, then there's a yellow type (Jag part #JLM204042/3) and then an orange type (Jag part #JLM209722/3)
I have done a bit of research as the Jaguar stuff is fairly expensive, and although I accept that it's not a huge outlay in the great scheme of things, I prefer to pay less, rather than more, if I can. I reckon that the orange stuff is interchangeable with most, if not all, modern OAT type coolants. What is not so easy to establish, is whether the yellow stuff, which is what is in my 1997 MY engine, is also compatible with later, and easily available, alternatives.
Jaguar (and SNG Barratt in their very good catalogue) say that the yellow "Cannot be mixed with any other coolant types" and I assume that's not just green and orange or yellow, but also yellow and orange.
I would appreciate a definitive answer if anyone can oblige as I'm going to change all the hoses sometime fairly soon, and would prefer to use a coolant that I can get locally at a sensible price, rather than amber nectar from Jaguar at around £10.00 per litre

Hello, I am in the same position but have a problem locating the drain plug for the radiator. I have been told it is on the O/S ( drivers ) for a U.K car but I just cannot locate it. I have bought my antifreeze from Eurocarparts its the PINK stuff recommended for 1999 MY XK8 according to their data when I put my reg into their system. I bought the kind you mix with water and have 4 ltrs of distilled to mix with it. The stuff I have at the moment looks yellow but its been in for at least 5 years that I know of so needs changed. Good luck.
Cheers,
Arty
