Lovely job !
I have my calipers sat in the box still, waiting on getting an MX5 fixed and moving before I get room to work on the '8.
May I ask, what is the size/spec for the 14mm bolts holding the calipers to the brackets ? I have been unable to track that info down in all my travels. I asked Jaguar locally about it, they gave me some 19mm bolts that plainly don't even fit the calipers.

Bolts are 19mm x 1.5mm x 40mm.
You could use a 1.25m for a finer thread but all my tool shop had was the 1.5m tap. Nuts and Bolts only had the high strength bolts in a 1.5m also.
I used my 1/2 inch impact driver to tap the holes. With a little oil it cut like butter.
Do not remove the backing plates like I showed on the front, just cut them in place.
I bought the brake lines form Goodridge for a XKR Silverstone but they had the wrong ends on the rear, contact Goodridge for help. Maybe you should get the ones that fit a XJR (these are the only two kits they make for the USA market). Also you may have to re-index the rears before installation. If I was to do it over again I would just round out the D hole in the frame bracket so there wasn't a problem during installation.

Not sure what the hex head was, I just got the 4 and ther 9 mixed up, yes the bolts are 14mm x 40mm with a 1.5mm thread.
I got the calipers off E-bay and the disc from Brake Performance.

Fellas, sorry to have hijacked your thread, but information on this topic is like gold dust and you have valuable first-hand experience.
The calipers I have (so called Silverstone by the Jag dealer) do indeed have brackets. I am wondering now if they will just bolt up with the existing bolts ? I have 355mm discs to go with this kit, so hopefully everything matches

Don't worry about the questions, that's why I wrote this thread. I couldn't find answers either.
Just tap out the front mounting holes with a 14mm tap, the existing hole is the correct size for the tap, no drilling. Cut off the lip on the front and rear splash shields and replace the brake hoses if you like. the rears are a banjo fittings the same the Brembo’s, the fronts will need an adapter to a banjo or replace them all with Goodridge.
You'll need this video when it comes time to remove the rear rotor.

Well, there's a turnup for the books. I have what must be the simplest and most cost-effective route into Bremboville that exists. I have been putting off install these for the guts of a year as all the information was pointing to certain bolts needing to fit, and since they didn't match the calipers, I wasn't about to tear my car apart just to take a look and make measurements. I have to get things done to the car once, I don't have the luxury of taking apart the car, looking, then ordering or finding parts.
So the end, I unbolted the calipers (bolts were tight, but not at all an issue), cut the shield back, bolted on the new disc and the new calipers (same bolts as before), fitted new flexible brake lines, bled the brake fluid and Bob = uncle. The work was about 90 mins per side, and ridiculously easy to fit.
Different feel to the brakes altogether - much sharper than before, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this upgrade.

I got my JLM21503/4 from my local Jaguar dealer.
They happen to be charleshurstgroup.co.uk
I also saw them online at one stage at Britishparts.co.uk but they have since disappeared from their catalog.
I can't understand why the same caliper in red paint is so much more expensive (and needs more work to fit)

And the cross drilled rotors - are they Brembos? Sooner or later I will be looking at new rotors and would like to find cross drilled variants. But that was a $500 option on this car - hopefully can be replaced for less than that.

? upgrades to standard brakes worth doing?
very interesting. The initial magazine reviews of the cars with the first Brembo brakes stated disappointment with the Brembos over the standard brakes (usually they wax poetic about Brembo factory upgrades). One of the reasons I did not make it a priority when I bought mine.
However, I have had a few times coming in fast off a highway to a down sloping exit and I found the stock brakes (properly maintained six months earlier at the time) could use improvement. Do the same thing with a Porsche 928 S and the impression is more like "gooood."
Questions
1. Short of doing what has been done here, are upgraded pads worth doing to the stock brake setup?
2. How about upgraded brake fluid with a different boiling point?
I get the impression that many of these minor upgrades are just a waste of time and money vs the real thing as demonstrated here.
However, I have had a few times coming in fast off a highway to a down sloping exit and I found the stock brakes (properly maintained six months earlier at the time) could use improvement. Do the same thing with a Porsche 928 S and the impression is more like "gooood."

Again it will help some depending on your driving style. If you are heavy-footed and stomp the brakes, or live in San Francisco hill country, then it will help. If you drive aggressively (on ramp racer) only on occasion, then you won't see much benefit.
Proper service at proper intervals is the best course for the average driver. The stock brakes are very good in their own right.
Just my and worth about that much.

On my last car, a 1997 XK8, I noticed a considerable improvement when I replaced the rotors with some new cross-drilled ones (I forget the brand) and switched to EBC Red Stuff pads. They were almost as good as the Brembos I have on the XKR now. Ditto on the brake fluid boiling point and race pads though - hot temperatures and track driving are where those upgrades typically shine.

This is a great thread regarding the Brembo conversion and I'm reviving it to ask a question. I have a 2002 XKR and am getting ready to complete this conversion. I have the following parts so far:
Calipers from a 2002 XKR-100
Rear splash shields from a 2002 XKR-100
Rotors and pads from brake performance
Goodrich stainless brake lines
I noticed some people cutting down the splash shields, but since I have them from the XKR-100, what is involved in replacing them? Does the hub and parking brake assembly need to be removed? If so, then I probably won't bother with it and just cut them down.
