Convertible or Coupe?

Convertible or Coupe?
Which one do you have? (or if both, this allows multiple answers)
Care to comment why?
I prefer a coupe in general, though had convertibles in younger years. Either too hot or too cold, plus I believe the Coupe has better lines, better aerodynamics and is lighter weight. You're choice?

When I made the decision to go for a used XK8/XKR, I had no strong preference but I did like the overall lines of the coupe slightly better than a convertible. On the other hand here in SoCal there seemed to be more convertibles available than coupes. Also, I had never owned a convertible (my 1995 Corvette had a removable targa panel which I enjoyed but it only served to whet my appetite for a real convertible). So I figured now that I was 60, here was my chance. Moreover, it is really convertible weather here for a large part of the year so it seemed warranted.

Convertible
Even though I had a convertible in the mid '50's which was cold in the winter and hot with the top down in the summer, it couldn't be beat on the mild spring through fall evenings and nights. So, after many years of family vehicles another ragtop was the only way for me to go.

While I agree that the coupe has better lines, especially from the rear, I bought a convertible because I have been a boat guy most of my life, and riding around in the convertible reminds me of riding in a boat. Also, another really big factor is that when the top is up on the convertible, it is so well insulated and engineered that you cannot tell that it is a convertible, which is not the case with lower priced vehicles.

I can never understand people buying convertibles in Australia - I only ever open my sunroof at night, and the very odd time I ride in someone else's ragtop I fry! Also, to my eye the lines of the coupe look a lot tighter than the convertible. If I lived in the UK or northern Europe, I'd consider the convertible for those lovely sunny but cool days. Then again, you can drive faster over there so that puts me back in a coupe again .... ho hum!
But whichever, guys, these are seriously beuatiful machines and I hope you all enjoy yours!

Nice color, Paul (see my avatar)
I actually prefer the open nose/grill of the early XKs better than the straight across chrome of the later ones such as my 05 xkr. I wonder if it'd too much date mine to retro it to early XK front appearance. The early style more distinctly says "X-style Jag." Closing it in seems to be trying to look Aston-like.
