on the highest level it is crap compared to any other car I have. The air is nice and cold but the fan is not blowing hard enough to out do the heat build up even on a sunnt 80 degree not humid day here in cincy. The HIGH on this car is about the same as a mid low to med speed on my Tbird or my Impala SS.

The Jaguar owner should not be subject to loud and distracting air movement noise from the climate control system.

Just pulling your chain . . . look at the climate control codes discussed in the FAQ above and see if you have any error codes. My XK8 at max fan is significantly lower than other cars in the garage.

Maybe you are one of the lucky ones that has a factory installed air filter that might be plugged up???

Why not try the climate control system diagnostic routine listed in the first post.

The High range of Fan Speeds is ONLY available with the system in Re-Circulating Mode.

I have no codes on the AC system, but when the car is sitting out in the sun the AC barely blows cold at all. when it is blowing cold and I stop at a light it starts blowing hot. After I start going again, it cols down some but never really freezing. Any suggestions?

Beyond the normal low freon problems the AC system has a 'blend' door that is a temperature managed blend between the cooling and heating systems. A sticking blend door is probably the second most common problem behind low freon.

Hi kippy, it’s a long time, but did you manage to find the problem?

Hi test point, it's a long time since this thread has been active, but I suspect my problem with A/C could be that sticking flap - I just can't identify it on any diagram to locate it in the car. Will you pls help me to locate it? XK8 2000.
Thanks a lot!

I'm in Arizona, pretty hot here 100F+ degrees here. When I get in the car my A/C automatically turns on and runs but I have no ability to change temperature or fan speed or anything. - The A/C unit is blank and nothing turns on. After about 10-15 minutes the A/C unit turns on with 24C degrees showing and now functioning, like changing fan speed or changing temperature. Is this by design from the factory? I'm assuming its so hot the A/C runs automatically and after the car cools down a little bit the A/C unit (buttons) start working.

Does anyone have suggestions as to how to remove the pressure switch without damaging the tube it connects with? I have a 1998 XK8 4.0 and when I tried to unscrew the a/c pressure switch to replace it the mounting nipple on the a/c line came lose. Had to replace that line that runs along the bottom of the radiator.
