Help Me Pick Exhaust Tips
Hey, guys 'n gals - - - Ever since I got this car I've been contemplating what to do about the exhaust tips. Now, through the magic of Digital Photo Editing, you can help by givng your opinions on which of these possibilities you like the best. Here we go:
#1 - Ractive T815
#2 - 130mm x 90mm ovals
#3 - Pypes EVT29 (6" x 3")
#4 - Magnaflow 35168 (3" round quads)
Note: They are all cut at about a 15 degree angle, top to bottom. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I will give me 2c here....IMO the tail pipe I like the best that goes really well with the bumper and looks good is a slash cut oval..... They are actually the same as fitted on to 911s (which also is there name)
Click HERE and scroll down and its the 8th pic on the left called the 911R (911L is the opposite side)
They work really well, and I am sure you could find an outlet or similar in the US

If you don't remember what I put on mine, they were a black chrome 3" oval in case you hadn't considered that finish... I've got a thread somewhere in the xk8 area that had the manufacturer and model listed. The regular chrome was too 'flashy', but the black chrome was different, and looked perfect. a quick pick...

I do have a pair of the slash cut ovals in stock, but yes they are expensive, but again the quality is fantastic.
If my memory serves right they cost about £80 each thats $120 or $240 for the pair plus shipping, but if you are seriousI can find out.
However I did have a quick look on Ebay and found THESE they are no where near as good but that reflects in the price and could be adapted to fit, but they look the same. I would remove the tip from the pipe and discard it and work from there.

LOL!!! One of these days when I'm bored, I'll Photoshop some "fart cans" onto an XK8. It'll be the original English Ricer.
Those 911 tips are indeed beautiful, but pricey. I'm gonna go with the 4.5" x 3.25" RACTIVE T820. I'm guessing they're pretty close to the same dimensions as Matt's. I really like the way his blend with the shape of the bumper cutout.
Thanks again for the great advice. You guys are super!

I like you wanted to fill the opening a little more so put on the 35158 Magnaflow tips.
I think you will be happy with the ones that you picked.
It's nice that all of us are concerned about what the other drivers have to look at when we leave them behind!

Looks pretty good, and I think I'm going to go with it.

If you like it, that's what counts, but when I see those tips it makes me wonder what is their purpose. When I see a car with dual exhaust tips I think it has a V8, or at least a V6, and each side of the engine exhausts through its own pipe. When I see a car with quad tips I think that it probably doesn't have a quad exhaust system, but it's supposed to look sporty, like it might actually have a quad exhaust. But when I look at the tips in the picture above, I see two big holes and two little holes. I think "what is the purpose of the different size holes?" It just doesn't make sense to me from an engineering perspective. And when it doesn't make sense engineering-wise, it just looks like bling.

I'm not opposed to quad tips in the same way as Sam is, but these tips always seemed odd to me too. Also, I believe only the large part of the pipe is the exhaust tip while the other is an opening that doesn't lead anywhere. I'll reserve judgement until I actually see them on the car though.

The funny thing here is that we are remodelling a kitchen, and I've been giving my bride a semi-rough time about not being able to decide on cabinets, appliances, counter top material, lighting, flooring, etc, etc. PLEASE - Nobody tell her about the struggle I'm having picking out stupid exhaust tips.
I'm not in any real rush here, but I'm picking away at the winter projects. I finished the "green shower avoidance mod" last night, and still have dash lights to replace, then "whatever" with the exhaust.
Cheers,
