My First Trouble Code - P0456
Besides a couple random DSC failure messages that probably occurred due to a dirty wheel speed sensor (hasn't occurred in 6 months), this is my first, truly official DTC that came up yesterday. I see what it is described as, but I was wondering if this is something that I can repair myself, and if so...how to proceed? Thanks for the help in advance!

Found this old thread, and will see if the gas cap is the culprit before further investigation.

* A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
* A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
* A small leak/hole in a fuel vapor hose/tube
* Other small leak in EVAP system
* Faulty vent o-ring seal
Possible Solutions
The most common repair is to:
* Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
* Otherwise, replace the gas cap, or
* Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses

Thought I read something recently about a recall notice for a new gas cap. There's also a bulletin you should search for, pertaining to the cannister vent valve.
What are all of the other non-OBD codes "unleash[ed]" by your AE system for diagnosis? Are these the false codes that have not been dealt with by software upgrades?

It's Service Action S509, issued June '05. New gas cap for 2001-2003 XK8/ XKR. I'd see the dealer and try that first.

The rest of the codes are odd, aren't they? The body module codes have always been there since I bought the scanner. All the seats and mirrors work correclty, fortunately. The ones below my P code have arrived after pulling the stereo from the car. I am sure the audio shop didn't re-connect the speed sensor wire to the nav module, and the missing power/remote is from the same thing I am sure. Hey, my horn works too!

Do the gas cap first
if after that you still have an issue it may verry well be a canister close valve
if you end up doing the CCV make sure you replace the pipe as well
it runs between the 2 charcoal canisters
the pipe is usually the culprit due to moisture and then rust
that rust ends up getting into the CCV valve and keeps it from closing completely
