Default What do you think? Custom XK8 for sale

I saw this on one of my craigslist auto tours today.

2000 Jaguar XK-Series XK8

Looks pretty tricked out to the point you can't really even tell it's an xk. In bad taste to me but the real shocker is the price. This dealer must be a crook or delusional or probably both!

Fiberglass rear bumper is mated to the rest of the body with no seam... very classy.

So I was looking at the first picture thinking to myself, "That looks more like a Miami car than Los Angeles".... lo and behold the plates are from... FL.

nice looking cat - low mileage but price is out to lunch - even with the mods, I don't see them getting that. Interior also looks more like ivory with oatmeal accent vice tan.

wonder how much body filler is on that thing. even an easy bump from the back can set you back for more than a grand... wonder how the rear axle bearings are reacting to steamroller tires? with all those scoops and scallops the owner succeeded in creating a Javette. at that price its sale proof.

For the price, you could find a Very Nice XKR.

I'm still looking for its power moonroof seams. Hidden really well I'd say.

Gone a little too far with the mods for me.

When I was shopping around for mine I came across something somewhat similar at a local seat cover/accessories shop that also occasionally sells cars. It was a black coupe XKR (I think 2003) that caught my eye but it only took about 5 minutes of closer looking to decide against it. Some guy had put about $20,000 into mods including upgraded intercooler, remapped ecu (those were the good things) but then a totally modded interior to accommodate a nutty uber high end stereo system. A bunch of stuff took up the trunk (speakers, amps, etc.) and the rear seats were removed to make more room for the electronics. Then the entire interior was finished in some pimp-my-ride suede and finally the car was lowered.

Doing something like that to a classic design like the XK8 is like adding a splash of color to a Picasso etching.

I'm not wild about the whole package, but I do like the look from some angles, not that I would want it. If you saw it on the street it would be hard to tell what it was. The only dead giveaway are the headlights. If they had changed those up, it would be really hard to tell that it as an XK.

The strange thing is that you would think they would have tricked out the inside too. Well when you go to the link with more dealer pics it shows the interior as completely stock. Also it'd sure be nice to see a pic of the engine bay but I don't think there's any there.

Always puzzles me why some people post 20k cars for sale on Craigslist but either don't even put pictures or leave out pics of the most important parts of the car!!

I do like that they mentioned that it does include the driver's seat! LOL

Convenience:
  • Center Console
  • Cruise Control
  • Includes Driver Seat
  • Keyless Entry
  • Power Steering

I remember seeing some items listed on a car at some point, and it mentioned that it came with a steering wheel, as though that was some sort of optional equipment.
Maybe that driver's seat is what is bringing the cost up.

If it didn't have those hideous wheels and taillights... this might actually be one of the most decent body kits I've seen yet. Would help if the rear diffuser was a matte or understated carbon fibre piece. Interesting... but this one has been taken off the deep end.

At least hes had the rear bumper line straightened at the sides. Levelling the sides of the rear bumper makes it look so much better than the stock bumpers imho.

I bet you could make one Tony, either in fibreglass or polyurethane.
I'd wager they'd be a good seller too if they weren't too pricey.

Similar shape and dimensions as the stock bumpers at the back and lower sides, just extended up and levelled off at the upper sides.

Similar to an Aston Martin rear bumper.

Oh well, it was worth a try.

Maybe one day, I keep dreaming someone will just make a bolt on back bumper of the right shape.

Hey Reverend, don't worry about it. Not as good or intriguing as you may have thought. Friar
