Yep
It shouldn't be that difficult the Type III XKE became the XJS which became the XK100. Interesting they went with BMW seats. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of the Type III XKE and actually think our cars look a bit better. But a fascinating idea. Note they even grafted on the XKR door handles likely to integrate the locking system. Wonder if the seats work with the memory settings?

I had a Series II roadster that won a JNCA second in the late 80's. I was thinking that there weren't enough similarities to do a straight foreward conversion.
I'm not intimately familiar with the series III myself. Had a friend that owned one and after seeing the nightmares he went through , I never paid any attention or wanted one. Therey were a pretty car to look at but not to own. At least this fellow has a reliable Series III now.

XKEs
I had a Series II then a Series I. Like you I had a friend as well with a Series III with the V12. Loved the sound of it starting but very little else. It was a bitch to tune and it couldn't spell "reliability".
My Series II was surprisingly trouble free and it was a ton of fun to drive.

Very interesting car. Must have spent a bucket of money on that conversion. Prefer the looks of the SI & SII, but at least this one doesn't have the ugly US rubber bumpers.
I had a '69 OTS that was my daily driver and it was very reliable. Only issue in 3 years' ownership was when it over heated in traffic and blew the lower radiator hose. Otherwise a great car.
