01 XK8 bird chirp in dash...
rolling down the road, I have a bird chirp somewhere in the dash. Do I have to pull the dash out to find and tighten something? ...Obviously hoping someone has experience with this issue and this is not a belt chirp. It chirps because of vibrations and bumps, so something is loose.

I have read about this problems from a number of people. Try a small piece of rubber between the front of the dash and the windshield. No one has given a good explanation of what is loose but as far as I have read the only recommendation is to remove the entire dash assembly and carefully reassemble it.

I've moved your post from the General Tech section to the model specific XK8/XKR section for better response.
check the upper shock mounts for crumbling foam - mine made an insane chirp that sounded like it was coming from the dash when they disintegrated due to metal-metal contact.

Had same problem with my 01 XKR, very irritating. Drove a couple thousand miles that way. Squak in dash -windshield area. My problem was outer windshield moulding rubbing in the corners. A small piece of rubber tape in contact areas took care of problem. Also had a similar noise on 98 XK8, the old piece of matchbook cardboard trick between the upright wood grain and console woodgrain took care of that. Do they still make matchbooks?
