17700 miles of driving per year is alot of miles. This would be driving in every month to accumulate this total. Are these the original wheels for this car? They look like my 07 wheels. Does not seem like a lot of wear on the seats for high mileage. Can this engine be trouble free? For sure a person would have to kick the tires before handing over any money.

I love seeing one of our cars with such high mileage. Gives me hope for a lasting love affair with my 34,000 mile sweetheart.

I notice this has the same scuff marks on the supercharger as mine.
Does this always happen or is it worn engine mounts - mine were replaced before I bought it.
Is there any way of touching them up?

I think those are very typical. My 2005 had only 16000 miles when I bought it and there were already some very minor scuffs in those exact locations. I think it is due to the underhood insulation touching metal.

Lucky for us in Southern Ontario (smack in the salt belt), we have 3 quality rust preventative companies; "Oil-Tech","Rust Check", and "Krown". All inconspicously drill & spray with a trademark "oil-like" fluid which does a great job beating rust. If you wax your vehicle spring & fall and use one of these companies .... drive on. My 1986 XJ6 went 10 years full time & looked as good when I sold it as when I bought it.
Cheers

I know I'm in the UK, but I've had a few Jaguars and I can only offer a bit of advice.
Pay the MOST you can afford for a Jaguar, NOT the least.
Jaguars might not quite be up with Astons and Ferrari's, but they aren't far behind.
You REALLY do get what you pay for.
If ANY Jaguar - ANY model, year, type etc, is cheap, there's a good reason!
Jaguars are pretty 'bomb proof' which is great, but IF they go wrong, then LOOK OUT!
Major body repairs (rust - VERY unusual but not unknown) or an engine rebuild/replacement can cost more than what you paid for the car!
Seriously, if a Jaguar is going cheap ANYWHERE, a real Jag enthusiast will laugh, and walk away, or if it's cheap enough, consider buying it for eventual spares.
Roy.

OK, I have taken it upon myself to actually call the owner. I got VM and asked him for a pic of the underside of the car. We'll see what this will reveal:

  • If he doesn't reply, something's not right
  • If he calls me back and tries to talk his way out of the pic something's wrong
  • If he sends the pic, we will all know.
  • If the car isn't a POS, I might even go at it. But I won't likely meet his reserve... We'll see.

Tell the owner you want a genuine Jaguar standard car inspection (in the UK we have 'AA') - see what he says to that.
Pictures of the floor don't really tell you anything worthwhile.
The floor might be amazing, and the engine/gearbox/suspension etc could be cr-p.
Your 'bargain' XK8 could end up far more expensive than a good one - DON'T be love-lost on a few pretty pictures!
If you still go for it, be prepared for 'possible' big expenses - you might not get them, so here's hoping.
Roy.

Other than a bit of damage on the front bumper near the d.headlight it just looks too clean. I blew pics up to 400% and there's not much wear...even on the d.side seat bolster. Almost like a VIN swap, but why do that with a VIN that has super high mileage?
