05 XKR 72K miles - be wary?
I’m not sure about buying an XKR with this many miles –
At 65K, they replaced the idler bracket, drive tensioner and both pulleys, charged the air systems (is that part of CATS or are they talking AC or what?, replaced EGR, replaced thermostat, replaced MAF/Temp sensor, replaced supercharger belt.
At 25K, replaced all shocks and alignment, replaced conv. top hydraulic lines.
Then it had the scheduled 40K, 30K, 20K and 10K maintenance.
They said they would run it through their certification check for $180 - I guess that would give me rotor thickness, pad thickness, tire tread, etc.
Buy or keep looking for a lower mileage car?
Advice appreciated.

If you factor mileage and condition into the price I do not see the mileage itself as an issue. The superchargers are generally rated at around 100K miles, but they can be rebuilt if necessary for under $1000.
You can also find low mileage cars that have been neglected....so just use your best judgement.
On any 6 year old used car you plan to keep you should also plan for the cost to change all the fluids as well as make the necessary repairs. Chances are you wil be in good shape at that point.

Well, you have a choice... find a lower mileage car that hasn't had any issues yet or one that's got a few on it and has had stuff taken care of. The mileage on these cars doesn't seem to be very important once the issues are resolved.
I purchased my 97 XK8 with 142k miles on it. I've driven about 3.5k miles and with the exception of a coil going bad, only one warning that my coolant was low soon after buying it, and it was a little low... I filled that up and haven't had any other issues pop up. There is a small checklist of minor things, but nothing that keeps my car from performing as it should.
That being said, I just purchased an 05 with 31k miles on it and I hope I don't need to go through all the stuff you just listed.

Replacing shocks and doing an alignment is unusual at such low mileage, I would look into why that might have happened, maybe a vibration or pulling to one side. The work that was done on it at 65 K tells me it might have overheated for some reason. I would look carefully for any damage from that. These cars are well built and don't have any big issues, if the overheating was not an issue, it would not be something to lose sleep over, any more than any Jaguar!
