Default '06 XKR "Black Cat" edition?

thought this might interest some of you:
Jaguar : XKR Jaguar : XKR | eBay

Extremely rare 2006 Jaguar XKR Black Cat Coupe. Jaguar commisioned 5 of these Manufacturer Special Order Cars. This car is number 2 of the 5 built. This car will be a very valuable collector piece. I am told that the first car only had the cosmetic upgrades and not the performance upgrades listed below, thus this is the first complete Jaguar XKR Black Cat. The car has a documented 458 horsepower and 481 torque (I have the dyno sheets certifying this). The original sticker price on the car was $118K meaning the car was upgraded with over $30K of special order options. This car was all done professionally through Jaguar. There have been no modifications outside of the original. Some of the additional Black Cat options that were factory added are as follows:
  • Special Gloss Black Paint with Jaguar leaper hologram in the both the doors (This is awesome to look at as it is subtle and creates a very distinguished effect).
  • Piano Black Interior Paint with Jaguar leaper hologram in the dash above the glove box
  • Chrome and Billet accents around the shifter and gauges
  • Competition billet gas, brake and foot rest pedals
  • Jaguar R Shift Knob
  • Titanium Window Tinting
  • Black cat door handles and front grille
  • Thermal Research Custom Exhaust (Beautiful exhaust note)
  • Lowered suspension
  • Black cat brake calipers
  • 20 Inch BBS Custom Jag Wheels
  • The engine and or supercharger were likely modified as well but I was unable to find out in exactly which way (Probably has had smaller supercharger pulley added to up the boost a bit as well as some tuning of the ECU for higher performance) I do have the Jaguar requested Dynomometer sheets showing the car has 457 HP. Car is exquisitely powerful yet luxurious.
I hadn't heard of this edition before now.

I haven't heard of it either. I wonder if it was a dealer installed limited edition. It's not listed in any of the bio's on the XK8 XKR. I remember something about this car being brought up about a year ago when one was being sold on E-Bay then and the consensus was it was not real.

I'm not sure if I buy the story of it being a factory package, but I have seen a car (although it may be this exact one, I didn't document the VIN) listed on eBay. The ghosted in leaper on the sides is cool and the exhaust is pretty cool (and Thermal Research has a good reputation). I do miss the wood dash a little, but other than that, this car is perfect! I'm interested in what was done to up the power (if you have dyno sheets, why not post them in the ad?) and I'm curious what the reserve price is set at especially since they are pushing it's rarity.

I also wonder what the reserve is on the auction, probably not anywhere near what the latest bid is, with only one day left.

It looks like a nice car and it only has about 16,000 miles. I have a friend who lives in Gilroy. It used to be an inexpensive bedroom community for those that could not afford to be nearer to Silicon Valley but in the last several years it has gone way upscale. So I am not surprised to see a car like that in Gilroy (the house in the background doesn't look shabby) and I am assuming the car was well cared for while this guy owned it.

I still don't believe it's a factory Job. There's no reference in any Jaguar Bio's and there's no reference to it on the XKEC web site. They usually list even after market special editions. One car the factory built, 5 total, is the 2005 "Sterling Moss Edition", 466 h.p. highest horsepower production Jaguar ever built.

Stirling Moss Edition

Looks like the VIN in all of those stories matches the one for sale here, so I'm guessing someone built it and the story just got added at some point. It's a very clean XKR so I'm not sure why one of the owners felt the need to add the story to it.

There has never been a "Black Cat" edition from the factory, nor a Stirling Moss Edition!

These are just being made up be resellers to cash in some extra doh, pretty smart.

All the hp claims are bullocks also, this silly claim alone is proof enough Jaguar hasn't done these form the factory.

I just looked in DDW that car is a stock XKR coupe with special order red calipers, Recaro seats & sports suspension. That is how it came from the factory.

Typically when an organization "commissions" something to be done, it is done by another party. This "Black Cat" selling point could still be bogus, but something commisioned like this would not come from the factory.

Same specs as mine. A questionably tasteful logo on the door and aftermarket exhaust may not justify the additional $48K added to the price. Good try by the owner though, kind of like phishing, someone may bite and get gyped.

Think the logo and moniker are a little too brash for Jaguar - holographic leaper and "black cat?" Doesn't seem to match their typically subdued offerings - 100, Victory, Portfolio, Vanden Plas.

Soooo, I've got a really hot deal for ya. Attached is the "Silver Cat" XKR super special vert. for only $60,000. I'm sure Andre could throw in a Kenne Bell S/C for that and eat the Blk Cat before breakfast!

Not my taste at all. Plus, the front seats and centre armrest look as if they've done more than 16000 miles.

it does seem a little over the top to be something which Jaguar would have made.

good catch on that center armrest wear.
