Actually speed limit is quite strict these days in France.
If you go over 30kmh above the speed limit and they catch you, then you are in big trouble.
I was under the impression that italy is still OK. Especially from savonna up north towards Turin, which is the road i take to go to the mont blanc.

But a meet in the area sounds like a good plan.

Evoluzione R

I have discussed this Limiter issue in my post in:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-remove-63118/

The best guess from the boffins on the forum is that you just remove the #4 Fuse for the Dynamic Stability Control Module from the left hand side Engine compartment fuse box.

Supposedly this also disables the Speedometer so you have to use a GPS unit to check your speed.

Haven't tried it yet but will give it a go soon and report back.

WhiteXKR:

Thanks for reminding me about that trick....it often works with oxidation on window switches too.....rock them back and forth several times and presto you have windows back.

I did check the Sport button yesterday and it was working again so perhaps it is oxidation or a bit of heat 'freeze' like the Hazard Flashers..or maybe it is just the Curse of Lucas electrics...."The Lord of Darkness".

J00:

Around Milan the speed cameras are working overtime.
A mate of mine already has 1500 euros in fines this year.

But you are correct the French Gendarmes are cracking down this year.
Friends this summer were 35kph over the limit and were taken directly to a bank machine to pay 750 euros by the police.
Put a bit of a crimp in their vacation.

That is how they handle people who aren't French residents.
Have had a couple of small visits to the bank machine under escort myself because I would rather pay the fine than have them know I live and where now. But two under 100€ fines in six years for as fast as I drive is just the cost of doing business.

I like the idea of a meet up too.

Chamonix is only an hour from our place and through the Mt. Blanc tunnel is just another half hour to Aosta.

FYI that is one place to never speed in the main tunnels they have video cameras and speed cameras that the police and the ticket takers keep an eye on.....they are very serious about it since there have been some major fires and deaths in not only the Mt. Blanc but other Swiss Tunnels in the last ten years.

Pophen:

My folks used to live in NJ and I can safely say they are some of the worst drivers I have ever seen any where in the world.

I love the classic freeway exit from the far left lane with a nearly 90 degree right turn across three, four, even five lanes of traffic.
No turn signal of course. Just divine right.

Woe betide the driver that points out this traffic 'blinder' as the Brits say by giving a bit of horn as they slam on the binders to avoid broadsiding the offender because that will unleash a torrent of invective, horn bashing, slamming on their brakes and scatological sign language with both hands.

Gotta love the 'Safety Officers' that lurk behind obstructions, bridge abutments, etc. like Crocodiles waiting downstream behind the corner of river islands for dinner to float by, at 4 in the morning with no other traffic in sight for anyone going 5mph over the lowest possible limit set for blizzard conditions and not daily traffic.

Come over for our round up and buzzing France and Italy.
We will leave Monaco to J00.
Though I know a couple of good places to eat there that you don't have to break the bank at the Casino to afford.

cheers,

jj
