Default 1996 xk8 convertible alarm intermittent

Hi, only use the car over summer, just preparing her for better weather. Last year she developed a nasty habit of self alarming even when sat in my garage, no doors or windows open, the only way I can stop her waking up the entire neighbourhood is to unlock the car and leave it unlocked. Looking to see if there is a way of turning the alarm off whilst maintaining immobiliser. Not in funds to take to a main dealer to fund his retirement pot at this moment. Any quick fix ideas or possible causes not needing conputer hook up would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thinking about it, these cars use the horn so you can't just disconnect the siren. I don't even think you can lock the doors with Windows up without arming the alarm.

I forget. When you arm it do you get a long solid beep telling you a triggered item (like trunk is open)? Ah, just jumping ahead trying to help you figure out what's tripping the alarm.

I experienced this problem with my XJ8. The cause was moisture in the SCLM (security control locking module) It is located under the fuse box in the boot. I removed it cleaned and reseated the connector and it went away. Worth a try.

Yes thank you, well worth a try, particularly as she is laid up for periods of time.

All good suggestions. Mine drove me nuts in a restaurant parking lot one time. Seems the trunk was not locked and the wind would move it and then stop. The trunk seems to be the most sensitive of the units to me.
