Default 1997 Jag xk8

Hi everyone, after hybernating my jag , I thought I'll change my rims and tires to spruce it up for the summer. So I changed my old 17 inch rims for 18 inch and put new tires on, everything went well until I started it up and the engine light came on and read " Stability control fail" I thought WTF he' ( Canadian). Does anyone knows if this happened for some of you guys to?
Any answers would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Default Drive the car a bit first

Hi,

Question - Are all tyres are now R18?

On my 99 base XK8 when I mess with the tyres or work on things in the wheel well (cleaning ABS wheel sensors or reluctor ring etc) this sometimes happens to me.

In your case, ( long shot) the stored data in the car may not match the new wheel speed data coming from your bigger tyres.

Try driving the car a bit and stop/start the car. The ABS and DSC warnings might just turn off.

If not, try giving the battery a good charge and do a hard reset

I think the two events are unrelated. The wheel speed data would be unchanged (proportionally) by the swap. The larger wheels also bring lower ratio tires that effectively makes the rolling radius the same, hence the system shouldn't care.

Thanks David, my old tires are 245/55/17 so i changed it to a 245/45/18 just to keep the radius to a minimum. I did what you said and toik the car for a ride and the code went away pffff.
thanks for the tip.
